Mayo QT Clinic
Has anyone ever been to QT clinic at Mayo? What can one expect with this visit?I have been referred to it with an October appointment set up. I just had S-ICD lead revision surgery at Mayo in Rochester, and the provider mentioned concerns of Short QT if I remember correctly. I still have no diagnosis from the 2024 and 2026 incidents. Hoping this leads to a definitive one.

I am not sure what the QT clinic is? At Mayo Jacksonville they have a pace clinic. They also have a separate electrophysiology division from cardiology.
Maybe there is one that I am not aware of and if there is one would be good to know.
Hello @abenn86, My daughter has Long QT Syndrome diagnosed at Rochester Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular Medicine which has the Long QT Syndrome Clinic including diagnosing Short QT Syndrome - https://www.mayoclinic.org/departments-centers/long-qt-syndrome-clinic/overview/ovc-20442144.
She had an S-ICD implant for several years which worked great for her at first. Later it would randomly think her heart was malfunctioning and started the device to shock her heart which would basically knock her to the ground for a moment. They tried adjusting the software multiple times but she finally didn't want to deal with it and had the S-ICD removed and replaced with a pacemaker that is monitored 24x7. Mayo Rochester has an excellent cardiovascular team of doctors who diagnosed her Long QT after many years in her early teens of fainting spells that were difficult to diagnose the cause. She still maintains contact with her heart doctor and she's in her late 30s now.
You will be in good hands with Cardiovascular Medicine at Rochester Mayo Clinic. It might help write down questions you have for your upcoming appointment so that you can discuss them with your care team. Do you normally prioritize your concerns/questions and take them with you to your appointments?
