Lower lung adenocarcinoma found on routine x-ray: So scary.

Posted by blue717 @blue717, Jul 13 7:11pm

Had no symptoms found on routine X-ray. Results today 1.1 cm lower lung adenocarcinoma. Hasn’t spread as far as the scans show. I’m 75 and scared out of my mind. Haven’t seen doctor yet. Anyone know what is a general plan? God this is scary!!!

@blue717, I'm glad you are doing better. Knowing what to expect helps a lot! Keep asking questions, knowledge is power. When does radiation start?

@lls8000 I just had the simulation done yesterday. They told me it would take about 10 days to get everything set up, and they would call me. At this point, I am happy to go along with the plan. So much had been thrown at me in the last 2 weeks; I'm comfortable letting my daughters and medical team drive for a while. My husband still does not and isn't going to have any interest in this. He has Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

@lls8000 I will not have radiation . I am in palliative care I am told. So just keeping me comfortable and out of pain. But I have been up doing things. I guess that chemo has so powers!!! So I guess as long as it’s keeping me out of pain … it’s out of my hands.

@lititaly I fell into a deep dark rabbit hole for almost 2 weeks. It sure is scary! I had my mapping done for my radiation done yesterday. They helped with my fears. Keep coming back here, because there are plenty of caring people who are, or have been, in your shoes. Making today count. Do something just for you. Me? I'm getting in my pool before the rains start.

@lititaly, If it helps, I was diagnosed with a Stage 2b EGFR Exon 19 mutation in 2018, and I'm still working full time. Lung cancer is changing from a fatal disease to something many of us are just living with.

Laugh as often as you can, even at nothing at all. It really is the best medicine!
