Not at all sure what has happened to the morning being my best time. The morning anxiousness is so discouraging. Surely it will improve. Old age is not for wimps y'all. I cannot complain as I have lived a full life and did many things before settling down to have a family. Not at all sure about the morning anxiety. I wake up like a grizzle bear with a sore paw...mind spinning into negativity until early afternoon. No way to enter into the day.
I take my RX for anxiety in the am but still feel a rising feeling after about an hour. Gets better by noon. However, if I have anything scheduled for that day, my anxiety increases- I usually think well, I can just cancel my plans & people will understand but really try to overcome & get out. Once out, I usually feel better. Sometimes it takes an Ativan to go but at least I'm out.
That’s how it happens for me. The mornings are worse than the afternoons. I take my medication and take a nap about an hour and a half after I get up.
Same here I have two dogs that I try to walk daily wether I feel like it or not. The walk does help
I get the same way so instead of trying to do everything I set no more than 3 goals for myself a day like wash, clean a bathroom, I usually only do two goals but it helps to pace myself and once that’s done I relax for the day if I feel up to a third goal then I do it if not no worries
I find myself dreading the morning I wake up depressed and don’t know why I try to stay active sometimes I just don’t do anything and sleep all day I know that’s not good. Lately I make it a point to get out of the house and walk my dogs
Believe this is very common but no answers. I find as soon as I see other people, my whole experience of life changes. I meet people at AM coffee shops and it goes away. Anxiety is very painful. We do have to advocate for more research on anxiety disorders. Exercise, good healthy diet including dark chocolate of 70% and above, brain foods included. Exercise is suppose to drain of the body of anxiety...it helps me, but still anxiety no matter what the docs say. Meditation also helps, Tai chi, etc. The last year have been filled with unknowns on every level, but our ancestors lived with much more than this for sure. One to one contact, even when I get a phone all early in the AM it help me. Moving out of bed, eating breakfast, petting my dog, getting to job early, early to all events helps me relax after I get there. Helps me so much. Need to advocate about the AM wake anxiety! It's so painful for us.
Thanks for the all of the good suggestions. I am going on 4 years of continual morning anxiety. The doctors I have seen are indifferent and judgemental. Claim they are not familiar with morning anxiety. I am glad to know I am not alone.
I too experience morning anxiety. I wake up feeling tight in the chest. My dad experiences the exact same symptoms too.
Hi, @anniegk -- how are you doing?
