What helps prevent recurrence of endometrial cancer?

@jc100 Yes, I plan to. I had tried to get an appointment with a gynecologist back home (my treating oncologist is in Kelowna and I'm in Victoria), but two out of two the gynes refused to see me.

Typically, it is the treating oncology/cancer team does the routine follow up. Initially, I was followed up every three months, now every six months. CT scan, blood tests, and internal exam are included in the follow ups. My cancer team is in town. My oncology surgeon was 4 hours away, and I see him once a year for an internal exam also.

No internal exam after endometrial cancer?!!!
The vaginal cuff is a common area for recurrence and to not have that checked is not standard of care. Definitely insist upon it or consider switching your medical care.

I was also in a clinical trial, and
I would think that the trial guidelines would require specific surveillance measures, including the internal exam. It’s not easy, but questioning your oncologist and insisting upon the pelvic exam seems necessary, for your piece of mind more than anything.

@inquirer thank you so much. I hope that you are doing well. I get blood work for CA125 this week, CT and EKG on August 4, see my PCP for clearance August 3, and surgery August 12. Day by day.

@dobraka So far, I'm doing well. I try not to focus so much on the worst-case scenario, yet balance that with being vigilant. Keep us informed. I'm curious about your CA125. Mine was only 6. The place you are right now was the worst part for me; waiting to know the specifics (stage, locations, etc.) kept me in a state of anxiety. I prepared for the worst and fought for the best (with supplements and doctors that specialized in my specific cancer). From what you've shared, sounds like you're headed in the right direction.
