0.15 micron shower filter for NTM

Posted by cholash @cholash, Jul 15 10:23am

Can someone please clarify for me… If I attach a 0.15 micron filter above my current shower head, will it filter out NTM, and all the other nasties ? Or, do I ALSO have to change my current shower head to one that also filters NTM? I have extremely thick hair , so fast washings are impossible for removing shampoo & conditioner . My current shower head has great pressure , so I’m hoping adding the 0.15 filter above it will solve my NTM /water concern . I’m attaching the one I’m considering .

Just sharing if it might help someone... I use a combo shampoo and conditioner all in one bottle, several brands have this. I like Dove. That saves time in the shower washing my hair & time being exposed to shower water.

Good luck. All of us who have had MAC, including me, hope it never comes back. We do the best we can to limit exposure and mitigate with airway clearance, if we think we have been exposed.
FYI there is a trial called Boost that is testing a vaccine against MAC. That would be wonderful if it is successful. https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT07094711

@sherrig oh wow, wouldn’t a vaccine be wonderful . Thanks for sharing . Looks like we’re a few years away, but I know we will all anxiously await the trial results .
I’ll be circling back to this and other threads if the MAC comes back . Could be with the next specimen , who knows.

The link below is the hand held version of the product you are asking about. I have used this for 2 years.
It is thought to filter out the NTM. However recently there has been some information about the performance with high sustained water temperatures. You can see the temperature range in the products specification.
The company will be doing a presentation with Q&A on our support group meeting on August 3 at 6 PM. If interested let me know.

@sherrig Just to be clear, is it just your group that will be having the presentation from Safe Water Products on their filters? If so, even though your group is in Vermont and I am in California, I'd like to hear what they say. Please advise. Thank you!

@linda1334 It is my understanding that other groups may offer presentations. I know some already did. I will get back to you about attending our meeting.

Wow, that looks great! Thanks for sharing. Now if I can just find something that efficient & reasonable for my faucets.

My issue with the high temperature limits of the shower filters is that it will be damaged when people turn on the shower initially to warm up the water.
