Did anyone have cataract surgery on a NAION impacted eye?

I developed NAION in my right eye 10 years ago which impacted my lower vision. Top half of my vision was clear until I developed a cataract 2 years ago. I also have a cataract in my good left eye. I’m concerned about which eye should I have cataract surgery on first. Just wondering if anyone had cataract surgery on a NAION impacted eye?

The answer to your question is no. I had cataract surgery in my left eye when I was 58. At 68 I had a NAION incident in my left eye. Lost all central vision. At 69 I had cataract surgery in my good right eye. I don't think they particularly like to do surgery because of the disk at risk but it was necessary and successful. The optic neurologist told me to make sure I got the standard cataract surgery where I have distance vision and wear readers up close. She said if I were to get a multifocal intraocular lens and later had a NAION incident in that good eye it would be a real mess. Good luck. It was so refreshing to have clear vision after the cataract surgery.
