Wide neck aneurysm in the interior communicating artery. Treat or no?
Hello:
I am 80 years old and just diagnosed with this condition. The neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins is consulting with others to determine a treatment or not treat it. As you all can imagine I am concerned and would like to hear the thoughts from this group. I look forward to hearing from you all.

Nick: I had a 6mm aneurysm in the interior communicating artery. (But it wasn't wide necked. My understanding is that would suggest a stent as well as coils.) I was told by a neurosurgeon at UCSF that 5 is kind of the cut off point where one should seriously consider doing something about it. If I were in your situation, and considering your age, I would just watch-and-wait with a 3mm aneurysm.

1 Reaction@rnpalarino1 - It's understandable you'd find these articles scary. At the same time, it sounds like you've carefully chosen a neurosurgeon to look at your anterior communicating artery aneurysm.
Tagging a few Mayo Clinic Connect members who have mentioned this type of aneurysm to see if they have any thoughts regarding your 3 mm wide neck anterior communicating artery aneurysm and treatment or no treatment, from their experiences or those of a loved one @rayne21 @houston13 @kimbo. @jenatsky and @hendglenn2000 also may have some thoughts for you.
rnpalarino1 - how is your vertigo today? When do you expect to hear back from your neurosurgeon, or have you already?
