I am looking to join a kidney Support Group

I am looking to join a kidney support group that addresses questions of proactive lifestyle, diet and exercise.
I have a level 3b chronic Kidney Disease level.
I am looking for suggestions of a good diet.
My other related medical problems include dehydration related to a 40 year old ileostomy with my Colin taken out. Many episodes of dehydration, and type 2 diabetes with a 6.2 A1C. I have been taking pedialyte to help me contain more liquid and avoid dehydration episodes but I do worry if the high amount of salt and other electrolytes might hurt my kidney condition ? Any information or ideas how to deal with this situation will be much appreciated. Rick37

@farmgirl630 @rick37 Welcome to you both here on Mayo Clinic Connect!

By becoming a new member, and accessing this kidney conditions support group, you are already part of the group! As you take a look at the different support groups available here on Mayo Clinic Connect, you will see that there are several that relate to kidney disease. I suggest you wander through, and click on discussions that interest you. We are all people with kidney concerns, or a family member of someone who has concerns. We strive to relate our experiences, what worked for us, what might not have been the "right thing". Remember, what works for one person, may not be helpful for someone else. But sharing information is always helpful!

@farmgirl630, you are doing great to start thinking about your diet at this stage. That's what I did, too! Be mindful of processed foods, sodium, potassium, phosphorous, calcium. You don't need to make huge changes all at once, take small steps to ease yourself into things. Get good rest and minimize stress when possible. Some people may tell you there is no need to be proactive right now, but in my case, it helped me advocate for my health, and kept me off dialysis for over 15 years!
