Tymlos injection sites
I was told to only inject tymlos on my stomach. But I'm very small and have limited room on my stomach. I'm able to get 4 sites only for injections. It feels as if I'm always injecting in the same place. Anyone else have this problem, and if so what have you done about it? Thanks!

@loriesco I don’t see anything in the Tymlos instructions saying it is ok to inject anywhere but the belly? I am having the same issue, little belly fat, having to avoid scar tissue, etc. Gives me very little area.
@jcoleary
Yes! If you can grab a bunch of fat and keep holding it while you inject, that should be fine. Those needles are so tiny, I doubt you are going into any muscle. Thanks for asking.

1 Reaction@ccps101 that is correct. but my doctors said I could. But since I didn't get a great result I am only doing it in my belly. rotate so you don't get any scar tissue problems
@loriesco What helped me was to sit on the edge of the bed and then hunch over a bit so that any belly fat gets bunched up.
I wouldn't worry about using the same site. I rotated left and right for two years. That's 365 on each side. I'm sure I didn't hit 365 unique spots!

My numbers have been good even though I rotate through abdomen and thighs. I have enough fat on my thighs that it’s still considered a subcutaneous injection.
However, if you have skinny legs (I’m so envious) then yes, avoid the thighs if you’re injecting into muscle. It certainly would be more painful !
@calofmichigan My abdomen got fatter from belly shots. I asked my MD and he said okay to inject in thighs. Now a clinical educator called me today and said better absorbed if injected in the abdomen....I'd prefer to inject in the fat of my thighs. The educator wouldn't comment on why Forteo a similar drug is allowed in the thighs. Does anyone have any documented information that absorption of Tymlos is optimum in the abdomen. I'm thinking maybe it was only studied in the abdomen but the educator wouldn't commit to that. TY
@lightlifts I asked about thigh injection, speaking with a patient coordinator at my specialty pharmacy. I have difficulty injecting in the tummy and experienced a large hematoma after an injection. The coordinator told me that it was off-label which is why Radius won't address it. My doctor did not give me a thumbs-down when I discussed it with her. No one mentioned lesser absorption being an issue with the thigh. I have far less fat in my thighs than in my tummy and a lot of spider veins that need to be avoided. I think it should depend on which site offers you the better access. If you inject in your thigh be careful to avoid veins and/or muscle.

3 Reactions@calofmichigan I have begun injecting Tymlos into my thighs after 9 months strictly into the abdomen. Not only has my abdomen bloated considerably, but I do bruise and had a hematoma on the right side which has never flattened to its prior position -- sticks out more than the left side. But the entire abdomen is bloated and sometimes the needle will not penetrate deeply enough. That becomes painful. However, injecting into my thigh is far more painful, particularly the left thigh. I bruise and I also bleed a blob of dark red blood every time that I inject either thigh. I am running out of injection sites after only 9 months! Suggestions?
