BIRAD 5 Surgical oncology consult, even with normal biopsy result?
Had MRI and they found an area that they classified as BIRAD 5. Turns out I’m also severely allergic to contrast so they could only do the MRI guided biopsy on me without contrast, only using marker from prior biopsy.
Pathology report came back normal but radiologist wrote an addendum that my imaging does not match biopsy result and strongly recommends surgical consult/removal, especially since I can’t have an MRI to follow up.
To be safe, I made an appointment with surgical oncology to figure out next steps… Is there a chance that the pathology report be a false negative like radiologist was suggesting ( 3 radiologists have been working on my case) and it is in fact cancer since biopsy was not as accurate because they couldn’t use contrast plus it’s a non-mass finding?
Also what should I expect at the surgical oncology consult?

For me walking is the best way to calm down. Take a long walk and listen to your favorite music or audiobooks.
Keep in mind that even if the results are not what you hope for, breast cancer is treatable. We just have to go through the treatments and keep enjoying life after that. Hugs.
@cbajana8000 someone reacted to this post and it reminded me that you were waaaaaiting. Did you get your biopsy results yet? 🤞
@seathink Hi there... I am in Australia and i assume that your BIRAD 5 is the same thing as our Category 5.... I came here because within 2 hours they had me scanned, biopsied and wanting me within the next few days to have it removed. It is 7cm , i have no idea if it is at a Stage Level but not looking good at that size i think.. it is the same side i used to bleed out of a number of years ago... I have dense lumpy breast that always seem sore anyway but this was different.. didn't have to even push down on the skin to feel it... for anyone reading this it is easier to feel if you lay back in a recliner (hahaha) and put your arm up over your head. Don't let people tell you that a lump is not painful because mine is when it is pushed on. They couldn't beleive the size of it in such a short period of time as well. So fingers crossed i can beat this if it what it probably is, because i have little grandies i want to see grown up. I always said the people i understand the most with depression would be a mum that has to say goodbye to their kids..... I also have Lupus and Fibromyalgia, God i don't want to have Immune Supressants again... the suck the bloody life out of you....... Give me strength for them and thankyou for writing your experience above... cheers Leanne from Australia
