Why me? (sorry for the childish question)
I've always been healthy. I'm 77 yo female; started running in 1980 and continued up until about 4 years ago. I mean serious running, 6 miles 5 days a week until I was about 60. I had a medical hysterectomy at 32 and was on HRT until I was about 65. I can't remember why I stopped. But I'm happily married for 43 years, so I use Premarin Vaginal Cream regularly. I hate when people ask "why?" but I have to ask. Why do I have an osteoporosis diagnosis? My endo wants to put me on Forteo. I'm leary because of all the negative posts on reddit. Does anyone think I caused Osteoporosis by running so many years? I was never anorexic and literally never really sick.
Also, I'm new here; please forgive my ignorance and be kind.

@roseincalifornia I am on Fosamax. No issues. My bone markers (P1NP, CTX) did get "worse" in a way, but that is expected when you're no longer on Tymlos. P1NP is going to go down. CTX is still in a good range relative to P1NP.
I started this in Janaury, so I'm not due for a DEXA for another six months.
I did have the option of doing Reclast, but I said "no way" to an infusion. An infusion is like jumping out of a plane and hoping your parachute is properly packed. If not, there's no turning back! 🙂

Your body constantly remodels bone tissue using two primary cell types: osteoblasts (bone builders) and osteoclasts (bone clearers).
PINP (Procollagen type I N-propeptide): The "Building" Marker
What it is: A byproduct released into the bloodstream when osteoblasts deposit new type I collagen to form bone.
Significance: It serves as the primary clinical marker for bone formation. High levels indicate active or rapid bone building.
CTX (C-terminal telopeptide): The "Breakdown" Marker
What it is: A fragment of type I collagen released into the blood when osteoclasts dissolve and reabsorb old bone tissue.
Significance: It serves as the primary clinical marker for bone resorption (breakdown). High levels mean bone is being stripped away quickly.
