Weight loss and regain
Like many here, I lost weight from the MAC, and more from the antibiotics. I've been able to gain back maybe eight pounds, and it has all gone to viseral fat. My belly is large, and it's crowding my stomach and aggravating my reflux. Very uncomfortable.
I've read that a rigorous Mediterranean diet and muscle-building exercise may reduce visceral fat. Does anyone have experience with this?
I am, btw, 77, and well aware that post menopausal women often gain visceral fat. I'm not on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and have heard it wouldn't help to try that so long into menopause.
Any experience or insight would be most welcome!

@yardsend Ah, a common complaint at our age "...My belly is large, and it's crowding my stomach and aggravating my reflux..."
I noticed this in particular this past winter, then I looked at my activity level. Oops! Sitting way too much.
I am not a fan of exercise for the sake of exercise, so since the beginning of May, I have made a concerted effort to MOVE all day long, even if it is just doing household and yard chores. After 2 months, I noticed just yesterday that my clothes are looser, and I can actually see that I do have ab muscles (they were not obvious before.) Yet I have only she one pound - the rest is better fitness.

Thanks, Sue, for your support! I'm very impressed that you can see your abs! I can feel that I have them over my mound of visceral fat, but I've never been able to see them in my life. I am trying to up my exercise-for-the sake-of exercise, on top of a few hours of yardwork and a good walk most every day, and the discomfort is easing.
BTW thank you for being a kind, welcoming, reasonable and well-informed monitor/participant on this site. You make a difference to a lot of us!
