Has anyone tried Nerve Ablation? If so, did it help with pain?
I’ve read some positive things about nerve ablation on my Facebook Neuropathy page and online. I’d love to try it. Why not? I’ve tried just about everything else. Have anyone here had it done? If so, what method was used since I’ve also read there is more than one way.

Hi there.... it is amazing, I have one for my neck and lower back each year seperatly. the first one always feels the best.. make sure you get an MRI so the pain specialist can see what he is working with.
I am in process of having one done for pain in my right lower back / SI joint areas. I see a Pain Medicine doctor pretty regularly and have had many injections and even had a hip replacement and spinal cord stimulator implanted to try and relieve pain. None of those have worked. For me the first step is to have a nerve block of the SI joint and if it relieves the pain then the ablation will be done.
I don’t believe there are ablations done for neuropathic pain in the legs and feet unless there is likely to be a spine pinched nerve as well. For small fiber neuropathy I have never heard of an ablation being done. Sometimes pain radiates down the legs and feet as in sciatica but small fiber neuropathy is different, something is damaging the nerves themselves (autoimmune diseases will do that, in idiopathic neuropathy the cause is unknown), they aren’t pinched or compressed from a herniated disc.
Please keep us posted if you move ahead with it and if you’re interested I will report back when mine has been done.

What was your nerve ablation for?
@chandria40 severe pain due to buggerall cartledge left between joints so then the nerve becomes exposed ... it deadens the nerve for awhile with blockers... some get 2-3 years.... some get 2-3 months...
Nerve Ablation burns the nerve which i don't find as good as blockers... i am a rare one for that hahahahaha.... the nerve grows back so thothing is forever.

Thank you, I have peripheral neuropathy and would truly love to find some type of treatment to assist with discomfort.
Yes, I had many over the years. The first ones worked for 15 years then when I went back for more, they started not working because I really needed to have lumbar surgery. The heat type of ablation worked for me and the pulse did not. I loved it and I do it again in a heartbeat. Sometimes it can take up to eight weeks before you feel the full effects, but they worked really well for me to stop the pain that used to be around the front of my legs that was referred pain from my spine, coming through my facet joints and referred down my legs. A good ablation doctor knows which joints to do the ablation on from where your pain is in your legs.
