Has anyone tried Nerve Ablation? If so, did it help with pain?

I’ve read some positive things about nerve ablation on my Facebook Neuropathy page and online. I’d love to try it. Why not? I’ve tried just about everything else. Have anyone here had it done? If so, what method was used since I’ve also read there is more than one way.

Hi there.... it is amazing, I have one for my neck and lower back each year seperatly. the first one always feels the best.. make sure you get an MRI so the pain specialist can see what he is working with.

I am in process of having one done for pain in my right lower back / SI joint areas. I see a Pain Medicine doctor pretty regularly and have had many injections and even had a hip replacement and spinal cord stimulator implanted to try and relieve pain. None of those have worked. For me the first step is to have a nerve block of the SI joint and if it relieves the pain then the ablation will be done.
I don’t believe there are ablations done for neuropathic pain in the legs and feet unless there is likely to be a spine pinched nerve as well. For small fiber neuropathy I have never heard of an ablation being done. Sometimes pain radiates down the legs and feet as in sciatica but small fiber neuropathy is different, something is damaging the nerves themselves (autoimmune diseases will do that, in idiopathic neuropathy the cause is unknown), they aren’t pinched or compressed from a herniated disc.
Please keep us posted if you move ahead with it and if you’re interested I will report back when mine has been done.
