Has anyone tried Nerve Ablation? If so, did it help with pain?
I’ve read some positive things about nerve ablation on my Facebook Neuropathy page and online. I’d love to try it. Why not? I’ve tried just about everything else. Have anyone here had it done? If so, what method was used since I’ve also read there is more than one way.

@bini41 I had nerve ablations done back in 2017. Unfortunately, it did not help me. Like you, I have had just about everything done that can be done. Just ask me.

2 ReactionsWell that’s disappointing. Thank you for your reply.
@bini41
Hello,
My wife has had two nerve ablation treatments (2019 & 2022) intended to address post TKR pain, without any reasonable degree of relief. This does not mean that it would not be an effective route for someone else. However do know that the procedure is likely to be painful,
Our only advice would be to find a physician current on the latest technology (there have been improvements) in the procedure to increase the potential for success.
Good luck

1 ReactionI had a nerve ablation about 3 years ago. I went to a reputable pain clinic. The doctor started with physical therapy and when that did not help he agreed to the oblation. I had a MRI showing at least 1 nerve damaged by the spine. The report used a special word to describe the injury; it meant the type of nerve injury likely to cause difficult pain. The oblation was guided by some type of x ray or scan in real time. The procedure was a success, even 3 years later. Good Luck.
Had ablation and it helped immensely. Give it a try. The procedure was not painful.

What kind of nerve ablation did you have? Did they do it on your back for the nerve pain on your legs and feet?
I had nerve ablation for neck pain and stiffness about a month ago. Recovery from the procedure itself was lengthy for me, I’m still recovering in fact. So far my pain IS lighter tho I still have lots of stiffness. A common response to the ablation is numbness in the back of the head and I still have it. Disquieting!
I have severe upper back and neck pain due to osteoarthritis (current diagnosis but I'm still not satisfied this is the underlying issue) and Radio Frequency Ablation has helped with pinched nerves. It is an outpatient procedure and you go home the same day. The entire procedure is less than 20 minutes. Seek out a Physiatrist to do the treatments (very important). There is an experiment that can be done to determine if you are a good candidate before commiting to the procedure. I did not experience much discomfort at all and sometimes the treatments can last for years. The nerve will eventually grow back. If it grows back in a different way, it may cease to be a problem at all.
In reply to Debbie Hirsch; I had my ablation on the right side for my spinal nerves of the small of my back.
