Possibly an intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN)
I have had nausea, indigestion, bloating, and feeling cruddy for 16 months. I had an abdominal CT scan done 16 months ago which didn't show much.
I had another abdominal CT scan a week ago that that showed: Incidentally noted subcentimeter cystic lesion in the pancreatic uncinate process, possibly an IPMN. 0.8 cm hypodensity in the pancreatic uncinate process. No
ductal dilatation or adjacent inflammatory changes.
I have not heard from my doctor yet. Does anyone know what this means?

Hi Poppett
I am 68 years.old. I was diagnosed with IPMN last December 2025. The doctor said it was atypical but this then turn nasty very quickly. Before having IPMN I was fit and healthy not on any medication.
The jaundice set in and my bile duct was completely blocked. Had Total Pancreatectomy this April and recovered well. Thankfully the surgeon managed to preserve my spleen. Just had my 1st course of chemotherapy.

1 ReactionHi Joe,
So this went from atypical cells to cancer requiring total pancreatectomy?
I have so many questions!
How did they decide they could save the spleen?
How are you feeling now? You must be diabetic with no pancreas. Also are you on pancreatic enzymes?
How is your weight and digestion? Ate you on sny special diet?

Hi Poppett,
Yes I had a total Pancreatectomy
. We asked the surgeon if possible to save the spleen which was possible when he looked into it during surgery.
I recovered very well and started gaining about 2.2 pounds in a month after week 9 of the surgery in the last 2 months. I am on 4 Creon for meals and 2 for snacks.
Hope this helps.

1 Reaction@joeseah I had an MRI. It recommended follow up in 6 months. They are recommending pancreatectomy and splenectomy based in the results of a fine needle biopsy which showed highly atypical mucinous cells.
I have no symptoms.
