are you having trouble with anger and anxiety as you transition meds

Posted by kmilstein @kmilstein, Jun 6 7:29am

I've been rapidly transitioning medications in the past 7 months and experiencing great amounts of side effects including significant anxiety and anger. I only have a few people who understand, but a really good friend just doesn't get what I'm going through. I'd like some support or to hear of similar experiences.

hey, I just saw your response. Thanks and all the best to you as easy as that is to say. Right? Such a challenge right? It was helpful to hear from you. I don’t want to try Seroquel because of the weight gain and the sedation. I’ve been on Seroquel before in my life a long time ago. But I really appreciate your support and validation of what’s going on for me. Really, continued success for you though I know the road is hard.

Hello
I’ve been on a similar journey. If anyone has any positive comments on Paxil or Paroxetine I’d appreciate it. I was on this antidepressant for 15 years it worked so well until I reached 78 and my dose was too high. I was at 60 mg and developed hand tremors and muscles tightening in my calf’s . I asked to go off. After a long tapering my psychiatrist tried Lexapro and I could not handle the drug after ending up in the emergency room. I then after 60 days off of Paxil I decided to go back on Paxil as it worked for many years . I’m struggling to find my sweet spot and just increased to 22.5 mg. I do hope it will work again.

@maryjjeandennis - I also hope it works for you again. I have found that going on and off or tapering down and titrating up really tests my patience. It takes a long time. Fortunately, when I went on buproprion (Wellbutrin) years ago, the pharmacist alerted me it may be necessary to wait a few (emotionally bumpy) months till my body leveled out and we would know for sure if it worked or not. It did finally work well for me, but I think it took about 5 months. Sigh.
