Hi @parus
I also enjoy adult coloring books. I don\'t do it often so it takes me forever to finish a picture. I would be interested in doing a group. I live inWilmington NC. I\'m fairly certain nothing exists like this here. I wish I had a friend here to go out for coffee or something. Glad to at least have this support.

I have cptsd i have never seen a therapist n i have never been in a support group please help me.

@mcrl

I want to welcome you to the Mayo Connect community. Your asking for help is why we are here. You say you have never seen a therapist, or been in a support group before, so you are really brave to start with us. You will find the other members here to be kind and supportive with you.

It will help us to be helpful for you if you provide some information. Would you be willing to share more about your situation with us? How have you determined that you have PTSD if you've not seen a therapist? I have PTSD from my childhood, and I want to share with you and support you toward health. Anything you can share will be helpful. Other members of the community have experienced PTSD, and will reach out to you as well. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hello @mcrl

Along with Gail, @gailb, I would like to welcome you to Connect. I'm glad that you joined this online support network. You are certainly not alone in this matter of PTSD.

I look forward to your reading your posts and getting to know you better.

Look into books by Judith Herman healing trauma....a breakthrough book years ago, and Bessel van Der Kolk's ibooks, also Peter Levine, "waking the tiger," and check YouTube videos on both these two men, top experts in field. Get a true specialist in cptsd aka developmental trauma disorder, if stemming from childhood.

I am a 100% Combat Disabled Military Veteran with 50% disability resulting from severe stress of my 249 combat missions on fixed wing Gunships in Viet Nam. I have worked with VA Counselors to assist me with acceptance and understanding the causes and cures of PTSD, I find the most useful assistance is training people around me as to the cause and effects of PTSD
The abused family members have it harder to deal with heir PTSD that the veterans because they do not have the support structure that we as veterans have. I therefore ask that we all try to understand their plight.

No, you aren’’t_ I don’t keep reviewing history, but as older adult who grew up in horrible household with sibs (alldeceased) as an older adult I am left with a brain clearly changed by violence I witnessed from birth to 18. It’s baggage I cannot get over esp. with triggers and times of day. Any body else?

Hi, I'm Dannybee. I've had PTSD since I was 14. I'm 69 now. It was as a result of sexual abuse. I hated him and was afraid of him, and I wondered why no one could tell that I was different. I've had dreams where he was chasing me, then ID be chasing him with a butcher knife. The dreams have mostly faded away and I've forgiven him. I'm ok unless something awful triggers me. Are your experiences similar to mine? Ask me anything..😋

I’m here…don’t know how many others responded but I’m with ya!
