Anyone else dealing with anxiety, racing thoughts during menopause?

Does anyone experience anxiety, rumination, racing thoughts, intrusive thoughts and distress while in menopause. Anything can trigger this for me. So overwhelming and frustrating!

What do you do to help with this.

Welcome to Mayo Connect.
What you describe could be caused by hormonal changes. My menopause was due to a total hysterectomy, so menopause came on quickly. I do remember crying spells for no reason and being very emotional. The worst part was the lack of sleep due to hot flashes. It is very hard to deal with things during the day if you do not get enough sleep. After 6 months, I was put on hormone therapy. I had my hysterectomy at 40 years old.

This article by the Cleveland Clinic discusses mood swings during menopause and includes suggestions:

In some areas, there are specialty clinics that focus on menopause. For example, Mayo has a Menopause and Women's Sexual Health Clinic:

Have you talked to your provider about your symptoms and how they are affecting your life?

I, too, have more anxiety now in post menopausal stage and depression. Have started low dose hormone ( estrogen), as well as talk therapy but doesn’t seem sufficient.

Yes, this is a huge issue for me! I feel overwhelmed much of the time and worry that I am failing at most parts of my life. I have found that letting the thoughts race for a few minutes then stopping and thinking of all the things that I have done right that day (even small things!) is helpful. But I am looking for more ideas to hep with this too.
