@jimhd I have seen 2 therapists and a psychiatrist. I found I am unable to break down and share with these " licensed. strangers" and also show up with my masks! The psychiatrist visit was horrible. I left in tears feeling worse than when I went in. I guess I was thinking he would try to make me feel comfortable, even lie down on the couch! Talk to me some Maybe open a dialogue. Not! I got preached at. Told their was nothing Wei g with me. Left feeling horrible in tears. This man did not even have my medical records and judged me without even knowing anything about me or my history. I too have had enough " therapy"! And I understand the frustration. Posting on here, reading other's comments helps more than anything!

3 ReactionsHi,
Sorry that you had such a bad experience. Psychologists very just like every other professional. I went through a couple other before I found one who specializes in trauma and who has helped immensely with my pain. A good marker would be to see a therapist who does EMDR, a process with lights or sounds which speeds up trauma therapy. Good luck!

1 ReactionI agree with you. She needs a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist who does EMDR. It’s painless and just redirects your brain to use different hemispheres and thought processes. Don’t stick with a nasty professional. They can be lethal. @marylou705

1 Reaction@parus I too am "vintage", lonlier in a crowd. I get your meaning too about helping oneself. Even a Doctor or other health professional is only as helpful as their ability to listen.

1 ReactionSee if your Dr can recommend a Psychologist. They don’t need to have a doctorate; a Masters is fine.
As to loneliness, you need to address that too. I sing in the Choir, have a Writer’s Group, an Art Group and sometimes drop in on the Genealogical Society. Most of these courses are free at the Library. I hope you can find some Group to socialize with. Check your Library.
I have had a stroke, lung cancer, and have a PICC line for a liver infection, all in the last six months. Autoimmune Disease is 25 years old. I am 70. @marylou705
@parus, I have a book of poetry by Robert Burns. Ironically, a Scotsman gave it to me. Do you write poetry? I have, but most of mine do not rhyme. Sometimes I write letters to my younger self. Or find pages from journals where I was distressed about something. It's good to look back sometimes, to see the changes we've made. I hope you had a good day today! Love and light,
Mamacita
