Oral Shingles! I need advice!!!
I am in week two of my healing from
a severe case of Oral Shingles. The blisters are healing, but I’ve developed a horrible neurogenic cough whenever I eat or drink. Actually, I cannot eat because I choke from coughing. Has anyone experienced this and what was your timeline for recovery? I am on Gabapentin 3 times a day to help with cough. Need to put some weight back on, as I’ve lost 12 pounds since the onset of the virus. Thank you!

I haven't had this experience but it sounds awful and I'm sending big hugs to you. Hopefully someone here can advise you.

2 ReactionsI have had shingles multiple times, but never in my mouth. Keeping your mouth disinfected would be important. Tea tree mouth wash would be good without causing pain. It could be gargled as well. Shingles is caused by a virus. There is a book I have found very helpful: NATURE’s VIRUS KILLERS. You can get it from Amazon. Hopefully your doctor has given you valcyclovir prescription. There are various essential oils that could be used, however they burn and must be used in abundance to have the right effect. Also, you can put tea tree oil in your mouth directly on the sores. It will ease the pain for a while. Treating shingles without prescription is very difficult.
