Eye sight getting worst?

Posted by HendriksGal @hendriksgal, Jun 9 9:40am

I had issues with my eyes starting 3 yrs ago, I went to eye doctor and they said, "just getting old, get some cheaters". So I got some 1.25 Walgreens glasses to read very small print (like pill bottles). But last 4 mos months it seems to be getting worst. Lots of blurry, my eyes are getting "tired".. I can barelly read some times. It only seems up close, far sight seems fine. But I'm worried about something else happening in my head.
I'm only on LDN and Tonmya 2.8mg at night for fibro.
I do take levothyroxine and esomepazole in am.
Anyone else having issues?

HendriksGal, I'm sorry you are battling this. Here are some thoughts:

Have you been tested for Graves Disease since you are on levythyroxine? Graves Disease can affect your eye sight. Ask your Endocrinologist about your numbers in your bloodwork.

Have you every been diagnosed with dry eyes? This can cause blurred vision and make your eyes feel tired too. I am on Restasis (prescription) twice a day and Systane Complete eye drops (OTC) and it has been a life saver.

It is not unusual for our eyesight to change as we age and have to get stronger readers. I would see an Opthamologist/Optometrist to make sure there is nothing else going on with your eyes causing the changes.

An Optometrist can see if you have signs of Graves Disease in your eyes. An Opthamologist can go even further with eye diseases.

I looked up Tonmya and it can cause dry mouth. I would ask the Pharmacist about this medication and potential of it drying your eyes since it can cause dry mouth.

Praying for you to get answers. Blessings....

I could use the unexplained weight loss. Unforunately none of these drugs I take give me that!
I just found this though.. so I'll contact my dr for next steps.. I hope I don't have to stop the LDN, it really work s for me!

My eyesight has been worse for a few years now. My eyesight throughout my life was excellent. Far vision was amazing. At about age 56 needed readers, then for far AND near all of a sudden at about age 59. So have progressive lens that I have to wear always because vision/blurriness is so bad. Every year that I go to ophthalmologist I’m always told healthy eyes, not much change if at all in prescription. Yet now if I’m looking for something, I can’t see it and it’s right in front of me. I always need a lot of light to be able to see, even to walk across a room with my glasses on. Reading small print is mostly impossible. No more night driving . This is very distressing to me. It’s a major change and when I bring it up to ophthalmologist each year, i am told everything’s fine. My older sister only uses readers and I used to have better vision than her before I got fibromyalgia. She’s 69. I’m 66. I also take LDN however been taking it for about 6 months and the vision problems were already there before I started the LDN.
