Has anyone had experience with Osteostrong?

Posted by lorrainelashell @lorrainelashell, Aug 9, 2025

I have osteoporosis in my arms and want to explore options to medication. A friend told me about a company with a franchisee not far from my home that claims to help strengthen bones through a special exercise program. Has anyone heard of Osteostrong or tried it?

@mel001

Most osteoporosis occurs due to Osteoporosis and loss of hormones but not all.

@gravity3 Well, I can’t argue with that!

It’s been a while since anyone posted here… but here goes. I went yesterday to check out osteostrong. I have osteoporosis in both forearms with no parathyroid disease and normal 24 hr urine test. Hip and spine are mild osteopenia.

My experience- I tried all of the machines (4), only 1 of which focused on upper body. I blew past the number I should reach but the coach said I will see that my strength increases with time.
After less than 10 minutes on machines and 45 minutes of chatting I walked away with a sense of gimmickry. For me, I will be better served either signing up for pilates training/ cardio/jumping and weighted exercises there (using body weight) or signing up with a coach at a gym and doing the machine circuit and free weights.
For me, I would be leery of the vibrating plate. This would be a last resort for me, literally, last.

@maloc at least you got to try the machines! The demonstration I went to didn’t allow that. I am not a candidate for their machines because I can only lift 15 lbs. I have heard it works for some and not others…like everything else! I’d rather go to the gym!

@maloc

Melioguide.com has a section on vibrating plates. A lot depend on the brand you purchase

@maloc I went ahead and completed one year of Osteostrong, despite my skepticism. Had zero change in my decascan scores. I would recommend paying for a personal trainer or gym membership!

I think there were prior posts here of people getting hurt/breaking bones on their equipment.

@maloc I went for several months. I injured my back on one of the machines. It was not broken and healed in a few weeks. But I quit after that and did more research. They don’t have the research to back up their method. I now do an Onera program and it’s a million times better. Only been 4 months so no repeat Dexa, but I would highly recommend if you are physically able.

I am 72 years old, and I have been unwilling to take osteoporosis meds due to the possible severe side effects. After six months of Osteostrong, I went from a DEXA scan score of osteoporosis to osteopenia. Other than walking every day and occasionally swimming (which have not been shown to effect bone density), I don't do any other exercises. I plan to continue with Osteostrong and start doing strength training to see if I can maintain or improve my bone density.
