Traveling with Osteoporosis Medications and Needles

Posted by madeleine40 @madeleine40, Mar 3, 2024

Has anyone traveled to France and back with Tymlos pens and needles for one month in carry on luggage. Have you had any issues at airports, TSA and European airports? Thank you for any recommendations you may have.

I was prescribed Tymlos and I am so afraid of the side effects. Can someone please tell me their experience with Tymlos or Forteo. Also I am reading about tremendous weight gain in the stomach. Has anyone here had that? TIA

@goseve I took it for four months before my insurance company revoked my pre-authorization and made me go on teraparatide.

I had few issues with the medication. I did gain a little bit of weight (1 or 2 lbs) and found that it tended to make me constipated. I had no problems with dizziness at all.

I occasionally experienced zapping sensations in my shins and arms. This happened only occasionally (once a week or so).

In the end, I ended up on a year of Evenity and had a 33% improvement in my spine so taking medication was worth it for me.

I had a little weight gain in the belly with Tymlos, but I also was turning 65 when I started it, and became less active because of my job.
I cut back to 6 clicks because the full 8 made me exhausted. I handled 6 fine, and went from -3.6 to -3.1 in the lumbar spine in 2 years.

I'm on month 6 of Tymlos and doing great. My heart rate increases some for a few hours and that's all I've experienced. I haven't had any weight gain. So far I'm having great results with my P1NP.
