Update on my Burning sensation 6 weeks post Prostate surgery
As you might already know, ive posted previously of the burning sensation ive been having while urinating. Its still happening, and i still have until next Tuesday to finsih my antibiotics. TO RECAP, on April 14th, it was my 3 week follow up from having catheter removed. A few days before the visit, i was starting to get some burning at the end of emptying my bladder, and sometimes it was very painful. I discussed this with the doctor on my visit, and he assured me it was still healing process, and its more than likely scabs falling off where the uretha and bladder were sewn together, and the urine is passing over the raw areas. I took is word, so I continued on, and taking Ibuprofen for some relief. The weekend went by, and nothing was helping, so i started to take over the counter AZO, and that really didnt help either. On that Monday, i called doctors office to see what my urine culture came back with, and it was negative for a UTI. I told them i was burning still, and is there anything they can give me for relief. They called in 200mg of AZO, and im like great, that isnt going to help, but i went ahead and started taking it. Two days of taking that, still no relief, so i called them back, saying i really think i have a UTI, and would plz prescribe me some antibiotics, so they did. Ive been on them for a week, and nothing. I did have one moment on Friday night, where something came over me while urinating. It was weird, and everything felt normal. I was like, did i pass something, for there is no pain, and things felt different. I got up and walked back to the living room to tell my wife. I also didnt have that feeling like i still have a catheter in when walking after urinating. I was so relieved, and thought this was finally over, but no, woke up the next morning back to the burning. I thought also am i developing scar tissue, and getting some retention, and thats what causing the burn, but i have very strong stream, so i dont think it could be that, or hoping not. The doctor did say if after taking the full dose of antibiotics, and still burning, then he will want me to come in. Ive read or found little information on my situation, so its baffling me. I know we all heal differently, but everyone else seems to be back to normal with no pain whats so ever, and just dealing with the leaking. Just want it to hurry up and end..

I hope you don't mind me asking—where did you have your surgery done? I'm scheduled to have mine in New York in about three weeks.
Waiting can be difficult, and I sometimes find myself wondering why the process takes so long. It's easy for the mind to go to worrying places while you're waiting. I'm trying to stay positive and trust that the doctors know the right timing, but I admit I'm eager to get it behind me.
Most importantly, I hope you're recovering well and feeling a little stronger every day. Wishing you a smooth recovery and hoping you'll be back to feeling like yourself very soon.
Sorry about seems like they should have been able to contact you.

1 ReactionWell I was able to reschedule my cancelled appointment, but had to settle for the Physician Assistant, which was fine. My urine culture came back negative again, but they prescribed me Urabel, and that has done wonders. I was also put on a different antibiotic for bacterial purposes, so maybe that is helping, even though my test showed negative. Once i finish all pills, and the burning starts again, then i guess the camera up the private is in store, or hopefully a sonogram. But urinating strong with no start and stops, and emptying bladder just fine, so i dont think no narrowing has developed.

3 ReactionsI had numerous people ask what to do about this burning problem and nobody has come up with a drug that works until you mentioned Urabel. It is really great to hear. There’s finally something to use that people have confirmed works..
