I am having a VERY difficult time with Klonipin withdrawal
I have been on Klonipin for a BIG Panic disorder for over 15 years. I recently had to wean down off of 3 to none fast. The withdrawal was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. I have my normal prescription now. However, at a lower level. But, I am still having a withdrawal symptom that is plaguing me. I am still taking it, but half of what I had been. I hear my Heart thumping in my ears, very loud and fast, 120 beats per minute. Did anyone else have that symptom? Or describe their withdrawal? Oh, and I NEVER want to speak to that new and cold Psychiatrist I have.
Struggling. Thanks.

@gunshy
My physician tapered me off by 1/2 for two days.
I should have sued him. The effects were devastating.
Be sure to find a doctor who knows what they’re doing!!
OMG, I am so sorry to hear that. So often doctors and NP do not know what they are doing. The NYC woman turned me down because I do not have someone living with me so at the moment, my only help will come from a NP who only comes to the office near me once a week and who knows how long between appointments. I am going to ask for a micro-taper using liquid compound, but am nervous about switching to from tablet to that.
Also I need .250 tablets because the .5 don't divide evenly and I notice withdrawal symptoms when I take the smaller piece.
Using an oral syringe scares me and reading those tiny marks, but after going through a half a dozen people who would have taken me down way too fast or given me another med, like effexor, which I would have had to get off of, too, and SSRI make me sick any.
Sending you a big hug and lots of love. You are a brave soul and deserved way better treatment.

1 ReactionOMG It is 11 pm, fours after I took my dose at 7 pm, a time when its at its strongest. My head feels like it is about to explode or come off and I am shaking like a leaf. Not to scare anyone, but to let you know what Kolopin can do to some people and how dangerous it is.
Because my pill splitter is no longer cutting them exactly in half, I am either getting too much or too little, and both cause problems, Doc to order .25 mg, if they will let him after them. I wish there was a simpler and easier way to get off this stuff. Life is very difficult and I nod off in church, reading a book, or at home on the couch.
Any one got any suggestions for how to feel better before and during and after a taper. I need hope and suggestions. Thank you.
@gunshy - really hoping your prescribing medical provider will have some ideas for you on how to manage this taper and some of the effects.
What have they said about this so far?
@lisalucier
He gave me two .125 ODTs in am to transition from solids and I had a terrible day and still feeleing awful 24 hours later. I am having break through withdrawal at 11 pm and 4 am and waking up shaking, I am begining to think I need to do a dry taper with a scale so I can stay on the same drug. He also would have had me switch my entire morning dose to liquid which is considered reckless and could throw me into a very bad place, so I am seeking another provide in Maine. Does any one know of a good one, I am thinking of doing a dry taper with a scale. Has anyone done that>
@gunshy - sorry this has been such a rough road. I would definitely suggest finding a good doctor to walk you through this.
Tapers off numerous mental health medications are super tough, and I've experienced it myself. I've even had to provide feedback along the way to my doctor overseeing a taper that something was going amiss. The right doctor will respond quickly and then adjust things for you.
Your pharmacist, providing you trust them, may have some good suggestions of a doctor who might walk you through this.
How are you doing today?
I am doing better but not up to par. I am thinking about compounded capsules in decreasing amounts
@lisalucier
I am doing slightly better and am thinking about compounded capsules and a three time a day schedule to stop the 11 pm shaking
