Can Neuropathy be cured?

Who do we believe - I hear we can and I hear we can't - well I did read that idiopathic neuropathy which is what I have of unknown origin that usually their symptoms are mild compared to diabetics. So glad I don't have diabetes. But am taking a lot of supplements - like medical grade B complex and alpha lipoic acid for at least 2 weeks and a few other things - Friday night I had a flare up but we had a low system - weather affects neuropathy I read but today and yesterday pretty good so I live with hope.

Are you diabetic? I wouldn't say to everyone it gets worse because I read it is different for everyone. Take alpha lipoic acid and B complex - you pee out the extra that your body doesn't need - it can't hurt you - if you lived with it for 30 years yikes. Can you still have a life? Hope so. They put me on a low dose of Lyrica that made me so tired even at the lowest dose that I could not walk to my car I was so tired - they asked if I would try its cousin gabapentin - no way - I heard a nurse practitioner say to my husband it will make your wife crazy - there has to be another way and also trying acupuncture - had 7 treatments - she said I need 5 more - originally 10 but know maybe once every 2 weeks later on - it is $50 for each treatment so soon maybe I can spread it out - it wont hurt you and it's not bad for you what the heck. Try it - you may like it. When you leave you feel so relaxed and nothing can bother you.

My acupuncturist said she prescribes alpha lipoic acid for her diabetics and it really helps but my symptoms were the same - hello - that wasn't nice I had to read about it here in this forum to find out about it and when I went to the nature store the owner said he takes it and it works and he only had one bottle left - 600 mg taken on an empty stomach so it can do its magic. Try it - it can't hurt you.

@gnocchi @mrmacabre - I think it's kind of a mixed bag between is the nerve damaged, cut or dead and beyond repair. For me, I do think supplements can help, especially if you have a vitamin deficiency but it's always best to talk with your doctor about the supplements you are taking to make sure there aren't any conflicts with other medications, etc..

heal anything. He has helped me with my pain and burning a lot.

Yes, neuropathy goes away when you eat plenty of food containing vitamin B12.
B12 makes blood cells AND new nerve insulting cells.
Stomach acid extracts B12 from food. Trouble is seniors have less acid so less b12 is extracted.
So seniors (and I am 83) need to eat much more animal protein and get off those pizzas.
Look up on internet, the effect of alcohol on B12 absorption. Its really does reduce absorption.
Our brains white matter is nerve insulation (myelin) too. As that is lost thru poor diet we become seriously demented. Short cut is to take METHYLCOBALAMIN, that's the med. name for B12.
Go for it.

Unless there is an identifiable cause for your neuropathy that can be treated, the answer is NO IT CANNOT BE CURED WITH ANYTHING ESPECIALLY ALL THE SNAKE OIL ON THE INTERNET!

@gnocchi I've been on gabapentin for years for nerve issues and now increased for neuropathy from chemo and I've never had any issues.

God can cure it.
