Hello, Dianna, I am sorry that a new concern has developed since you had a septal myectomy in the past. From my understanding of these conditions, we had out septal myectomies because of thickening on our left ventricle walls. Apical is when heart walls thicken at the left ventricle’s apex, the bottom of the left ventricle. It must be frustrating to even consider that after a septal myectomy, another surgery is entering your thoughts. We all hope that after our septal myectomies our former lives resume without a foul ball thrown in our directions. What does your doctor say? Does it affect your best life? Yes, there is surgery for Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and here is a link to Mayo's information on it. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hypertrophic-cardiomyopathy/multimedia/apical-myectomy-image/img-20123848. There are discussions related to your question, many threads, in fact. Rather than suggest one, please put "mayo connect apical hcm" in your browser and consider reading the many/all of the postings that result from the search. Discussions with your doctor are very important as well as second opinions if necessary. Have you looked at the HCM Association's website 4hcm.org? May I suggest an intake interview with them? Everything HCM has come to the attention of their professional staff, and they are an excellent resource. Have you had a DNA test to discover the gene(s) responsible for your HCM?
