Feedback on Linzess for Irritable Bowel-C or Chronic Constipation
I have both of the above-conditions. Took Linzess, (called Constella in Canada) and got terrible stomach pain. Feeling desperate and thinking about trying it one more time. Interested in hearing what kind of experiences other people have had with linaclotide/linzess.

Yes it seems when GI doctors can't find anything they give you the IBS story . It's hard because you're the one dealing with the problem not them. Sometimes you need a good teaching hospital where someone thinks out of the box sort of speak. Hang in there keep searching

1 Reaction@cezanne things that can help in addition to fiber/hydration include walking after meals, even if it is just a short walk around an apartment…also, very gentle massage on lower belly, R to L., Kegel exercises can help, too…many people use little footstools to raise legs, making the go easier…when none of this works, careful use of softener or laxative products..your doc may have suggestions as well.

4 Reactions@nycmusic Thank you. For the benefit of others I will echo your suggestions which I had found myself and do help, except added fiber which other issues rule out for me. I also find once “in position” with raised elevated stool, just sit a while and relax, breathing easily. Sometimes it works.

2 Reactions@cezanne there is one thing females can do….one can feel stool inside—sometimes a gentle nudge inside can help..gentle !! About fiber, many overdo it and things can get jammed up just when that’s not wanted.

2 Reactions@cardigan Yes, with different issues at once it is challenging. I concur with your approach: small, bland meals. Sweet potatoes work well for me.

1 ReactionYou’re spending a lot of $ on
Probiotics. If dropping all these pills hasn’t been helpful…Try changing your diet, and drink more water.

1 ReactionWhy are you taking this if you were "normal"? I'm not being wise ass this is an extremely genuine question.
Linzess did NOT work for me.. and actually made me sort of sick..I'm on Trulance..andVSL-3 probiotics..miralaxing occasionally when I have a reaction to food or medication..then I might MiraLAX 3 times a day.. don't want to go to ER anymore for this!! Also prune juice helps and pear juice (but pear juice can really hurt your stomach if you drink it on an empty stomach..ouch!!) I think it has alot more sorbitol than prune juice..tastes better for sure!! And yes small meals several times a day.. and lots of water!! Prayers for you!!
