My ostomy leakage solution

After an illosomy last Jan, I spent over a year struggling to eliminate leaks. My home nurse and several pouch manufactures tried to make useful suggestions. I tried "skin Protecters", paste, seal rings of different sizes and materials, several adhesive removers, alcohol wipes, and many different one and two piece pouching systems

At best I could wear a pouch 3 days and would still get leaks every week or two. Just enough to make me very uncomfortale leaving the house.

But the good news is I am now appreciating a month or 6 weeks leak free. In fact after all the recent pouch changes there has never been any sign of even a little leakage around the stoma. In the past there was almost always signs of leakage extending away from the stoma when the pouch was removed after 3 days. And I have discontinued use of paste, seal rings, alcohol, and skintac. I am not sure any of them really helped, but they were suggested so I was using them.

I think the breakthrough was showering AFTER using the adhesive remover. During the shower I wash the area with ivery soap, then shave around the stoma rinse then wash again using "Checks and Balances" face soap. After drying off, I use a hair dryer to warm the adhesive and apply the device to my skin.

I am very happy to report this seems to be working well for me.
I hope my experience helps others.
