Would love to hear some positive stories from people whom have tapered off benzos. Positive only please. Give me some hope. No horror stories! I need some encouragement!

@rosebookay meaning I should take longer with each taper? Perhaps that was because she prescribed Lexapro which I am not taking, I will double check with her

@berekann Yes! That is a stupidly fast taper. The other drug will not stop benzo withdrawal. It may help other things but NOTHING helps benzo withdrawal itself except a very, very slow taper -

@kb2014a how much Klonopin were you on? You are very lucky you do not need it any more.

Feel free to private message me on Connect if you'd like.

Thank you so much for writing! You inspire me and give me hope.
I visited the doctor who prescribed Clonazapam. I too am your age and I took this DRUG for decades. I am dependent (rather than addicted) to it. Is there a difference?!!
(I now have mild cognitive impairment.) He is referring me to a psychiatrist who will manage the the ongoing decrease in taking this drug... a neurologist has already prescribed a med that lessens the loss of memory..Escitalopram.

I considered what the consequences should be for a well meaning doctor who prescribed a medication that affects memory and mood!!
I also asked myself! .. why did I not read the pharmaceutical info!!

@rosebookay thanks so far I don’t seem to be experiencing any withdrawal symptoms. Took .625 mg last night and will continue that for a week and then I will go to .5 mg and I will consult my doctor.

@berekann
If you have any withdrawals I'd increase it and stay there for 2-4 weeks.
I tapered off 18 mg of Klonopin with no withdrawal issues except very mild ones at the end that were resolved.
SLOW!!!, SLOW!!!, SLOW!!!
Jake

@jakedduck1 thanks for all your input. I plan to stay for at least two weeks with each level going forward because yes, I don’t want side effects or withdrawal issues.

@rosebookay and thanks I definitely opted not to take the Lexapro. It will only cause more problems.
