I have Ulnar Nerve pain on both sides. Electric shocks feel unbearable. What will help?

@sloped483 thanks so much!
This is great information.
I really appreciate it. I will look into all of this and give the egotistical surgeon a call. Haha!
Sorry you have weakness now, and am glad you don’t have the pins and needles anymore.

I hope you are able to resolve your ulnar pain because I know how painful it can be.

Stay warm!
Thanks! I do not have weakness . I have electric shocks , like lightning bolts going through my arm and ring & pinky fingers. I went to the chiropractor- but no help. I do stretches snd yoga as well. I will check with my doctors more. It is terrible pain. Nothing i do is helping. Thanks!

@susanblan , so sorry you are having this. I have a friend who has it like that in his legs. I'm trying to determine if it's a trapped nerves in my neck or in my shoulders or from having chronic prediabetes. I've cut out sugars and refined carbs to lower my A1C, but it will take awhile to see results I think. My Dr isn't as much help as my chiropractor at suggesting things for me to try. However, I could ask my Doc to order x-rays or conduction tests.

@greengold

Sounds like sciatica nerve pain that can occur in the legs that emanates from the lower spine.

@greengold
Thanks!! 😊
You are doing all the good- healthy - right things by cutting out sugars and carbs. Watching your A1C is always the right thing. I do the same thing, but i do need to watch my carbs more! I do not eat much sugar, and it does help to reduce pain!!
That is one easy thing to fix.
Try to get some xrays or MRI of your neck and back- at least it will show you if you have any damage to work on. Maybe even go to a spine specialist. I think some of mine is my neck too, but I need to get it checked. I definitely have something wrong with my Ulnar Nerves. 😟 !
I wonder what nerve is being pinched in your friend’s legs? That is awful.
I am having an MRI of my hand in a few weeks .

Hi, I just had ulnar nerve surgery on May 3rd due to a stabbing in my wrist which resulted in a severed artery and tendons to my ring and pinky finger. I was already on gabapentin for other issues but I have been taking lyrica and I find that it works faster and lasts longer for the burning nerve pain. I'm new to this site so I hope im helping...but it feels good to vent about this.

I have the same thing on my right wrist and last 2 fingers and I have been taking lyrica. I feel like it works faster n lasts longer than gabapentin, which I was already on before the ulnar nerve surgery. the tingling n burning pain drives me crazy but the lyrica has actually been helping. I just had the surgery about 2 weeks ago n im,scared that my hand might never go back to normal...I know it takes a long time to recover but in the meantime i definitely recommend that u talk to ya Dr. about lyrica. I wish u the hest!!

Hello @joli48, Welcome to Connect. Good to hear that the Lyrica is helping with your hand pain. It sounds like you are still fairly early in your recovery from the hand surgery so hopefully thing will get back to normal for you soon. Did the hand doctor give you any follow up therapy or exercises to help the hand and fingers get back to normal?

@johnbishop hi,
No, the doc did not give me anything after the surgery. Except he wants me to have EMG’s of both arms and hands because they are both cold, when the rest of my body is not. The cold is painful like there is no curculation. The nerves are obviously pinched somewhere. I’ve had two ulnar nerve transpositions on one arm, ( no surgery on the other arm at all .)
