Phlegm in my throat and post nasal drip after Covid
Ever since I had covid in January of 2022 I recovered from the virus but I was left with a constant phlegm in the back of my throat and post nasal drip that will not go away. The feeling of having mucus in the back of my throat actually gets worse when I try to get rid of it by coughing. I have been given steroid inhalers, albuterol, allergy medication, but none of these work. The mucus gets worse especially after I eat. I've never felt like this before and it all started after covid. Can anybody relate to what I am going through?

@turandot Bless You! I had to see a Pulmonologist, went on nebulizer and inhaler as well.
I pray you continue to get better. It does take time. Blessings....
@turandot thanks for sharing your journey…
Did your physician share what infection you have? What antibiotic are you nebulizing? Thanks!

1 Reaction@ccbwell something else that has really been helping is something called AlkaLife pH Booster Drops. Try to get your water that you drink to 9.5 pH (it may help to test with a pH meter - This one's super cheap and at least will get you in the right range. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0FKYB2R92) Apparently 9.5 pH water immediately denatures pepsin on contact which keeps it from irritating your throat as much, even if you do have silent reflux.
I have a bunch of big yetis that I just keep it in and drink from all day long so it's constantly helping.
I also found this blog by the supposed world expert on respiratory reflux. You can read through her blog on her website here and see if anything resonates. https://jamiekoufman.com/
since implementing some of the things she talks about, including the water and the alginate (reflux gourmet) I have stopped the twice a day Mucinex and all the asthma medicine (advair and spireva) that my pulmonologist prescribed me and feel much better.
Hope you find some relief soon!

Thank you 🙏
@missourimark61 I totally agree that the vaccines caused the post nasal drip and thick mucous problem for me. I just bought a nasal spray on Amazon called XClear. Look it up. I'm hoping this is the answer for me. It contains xylitol. I sprayed it this morning & so far I think it's actually controlling the PND!!! It would be great to get off my Xhance fluticisone & Symbicort Rxs!! They are ridiculously expensive for what they DON'T do for me!!
I'm trying Xlear nasal spray now. It's on Amazon. Look it up. It contains xylitol 👍👍 I just started it today. It's controlling my PND & mucous so far. I'll update again in a while.
Are any of you taking vitamin C daily? If so, how much, and is it time-released? Some folks are over dosing with C and it can cause mucus and coughing in some people. Shouldn't be taking more than 1,000 mg per day.
Unfortunately, Xclear didn't help me, but you might try Nasacrom which helps with allergies and histamine reactions. If your congestion gets worse after eating, you might want to explore food allergies. Gluten and dairy are two big culprits for many people.
@mikedod FYI: It's easy enough -- and way cheaper -- to make a DIY version of Gaviscon Advance or Reflux Gourmet, the natural alginate treatments for reflux. Here's a very long explanation (you can scroll down to the recipe)
