Shocked by aging process

Posted by seniormiz @seniormiz, Jan 25 8:54am

My fingernails and toenails stopped growing and just keep breaking off. My hair is falling out. My memory is not as sharp and sometimes I feel a little woozy. I hate this. I want my body and my senses back.

I woke up early today because my husband is off having his 13/14 mose surgery! Ouch! This is just one in a string of medical appointments for each of us. Your conversation above was needed. I feel like a hamster on a wheel doctor for this doc for that and no one has an answer just another pill! The roller coaster of life at least we are all still riding!!

Did you mean, "nose" surgery,
or is mose a medical term I'm unaware of?

I love the sprinkling of your husband's ashes at different travel spots. That's what I'd like with mine but doubt I could find an agreeable traveler to do it. In the meantime, I'm going today to purchase a final resting plot. At least that can come off my list. I find aging to be quite challenging and full of medical surprises, but I do the best I can to keep moving and socialize.

What does it take to be an, "agreeable traveler"?
Once I went to a local pub the night before (fell off a stage at a playhouse I had a tiny part in and injured foot licking my wounds) going on a trip next morning, met a lady who said she just started communicating with an old boyfriend that lives in Colorado, and would love to go. I told her, book a flight, my hotel room has two beds and I will be busy at the last PBY convention. She came, boyfriend thing didnt pan out well, so on my sparetime, we did some siteseeing at museums and a zoo. Had a great time with a total stranger!

No Mohs surgery is for removal of skin cancers.

I love your enthusiasm about life, "take what I have to and just keep on going". Having the ability to turn the negative into a positive, is challenging at times, but you have seemed to master it! I have traveled 98% by myself (introvert) but my husband came with me at times when he could (traveling when you are dying can get tricky). So after his death, cremated in a biscotti jar (he liked cookies), I put him in a wee vegan gel cap, and sprinkled a bit him everywhere to continue his travels. Like in the pool in front of the Taj Mahaul, in the Alamo, on Samuri Warrior 47 grave site (born in '47) in Koyason Japan royal cemetary, when I spent a few nights with Bhuddist monks in their temple on top of a mountian. He's going on another trip soon, and some of my service dogs ashes will accompany him. Baklava is in a basset hound cookie jar next to him.
Btw, I did publish a wee children's book/illustrated it, on a local endangered species, I'm sure not half as exciting as extra vertibras on an xray.

I definitely have not mastered my life as it is now and there are days I cry “why me?” and I’ve found the answer to that to be “why not me?”
I have plenty of poor me days (usually days I can barely get out of bed) but I thank god every single day that I’m not in worse shape than I am.
I am definitely an introvert but my best friend is a definite extrovert (would talk a wall to death 😂) so she does the socializing on our trips and it works for us. I’m pretty easy to get along with and I’m very nice to the people we encounter; I just don’t go out of my way to engage anyone.
I would love to sell our house and most everything we own and buy an RV and just stay gone but my husband is not on board with that idea at all. He will go some places with me but he is happy just staying home and that works out because we have two dogs.
I love the spreading of the ashes! That’s such a beautiful idea! I have told my children I want to be spread out over the ocean. My daughter says she will fedex me and meet me there because there’s no way she taking me in her suitcase. I asked her what if I get lost along the way? Her answer was then I would probably get to travel around the world to places I’ve never been 😂!
My son says he will take me 😊!
I am also trying to talk her into putting some of my ashes in a small hourglass and use it when they have game nights so I can always be there to play! So far, that’s a no go too! 😂
Wow! You have traveled all over the place! I love that! I hope your next trip is full of joy and unforgettable memories!

That's a fortunate experience. By agreeable traveler, I meant someone willing to carry my ashes along on a trip. Today bought my plot, so now I know where I'm going. I got a place with shade in case someone wants to stop by. Visitors deserve to be comfortable.

Oh, I'm so glad you got it! Shade is a very thoughtful idea, you are always thinking of others. There is a big tree in front of mine, far enough to not get clunked in the head with falling debris on the east so we can admire it, with the wind behind us, the huge giant will (knock on wood) fall away, not on us. Trust me, where I live is, storm alley.
Well, this is a cause to celebrate! Another chapter in your life checking off important things to do! I absolutly love smart, organized, practical people! A few weeks ago, I went to a free lunch for a seminar the Neptune Society put on. I spoke to them yrs ago but needed a refresher. Time to get that taken care of. I did write a will, but also must update. 🦆🦆🦆🦆

I speak to the Gods differently than you. I say, when everything goes wrong and I had a bad day...
"Is that all you got? I havent been tortured enough, bring it on!" You would not believe how quickly my pain goes away and the day flips to good! Its child psycology, but it works! 🤗 The RV idea is great, and you do know, many bring their dogs with them traveling. My service dog was on nine planes, two ferries, 7 day carribean new year cruise, serinaded in Mexico while I fed him homemade tortilla chips, dipped his paw in the ocean for the first time in Hondorus, a few syphonies, plays, five star hotels, lunch with an astronaut, up the space needle, Albuq. New MX balloon fiesta, had his vest signed by muscians and polititans, so a few dogs in an RV is doable. 🦮

I also checked out The Neptune Society. Still trying to decide about that. After purchasing the plots and all the extras I'd say death is about as expensive as living.

You got that right!
The reason why I want Neptune, is they have been in business for so long and trusted.
I dont want the living to pay trump'd up charges. Also, no matter where in the world I die, they bring me home and cremate. No extra charge. You really cant beat that. It's just setting aside $$$ for this when other projects are screaming at me. Yet, I can kick off any day, so, chop-chop, get this over with, and the head stone!
