Cleveland Clinic Gastroenterologist to help problem solve GI issues

Posted by sbax75 @sbax75, May 10 7:25pm

This is a long shot-but is any one familiar with a understanding compassionate Gastrointestinal Doc at the Cleveland Clinic. I'm suffering with unsolved GI symptoms and need a specialist to put the picture together. Any suggestions welcome.

You don’t mention what type of GI symptoms so you are asking a pretty general question.

This may help…I went to the Digestive Health Support Group page and searched for Cleveland Clinic. You can review discussions from there:

I am not sure why you are specifically asking about Cleveland Clinic. You may be interested to review top GI locations for other options:

I can only speak to Mayo Clinic in Rochester and highly recommend them. I am happy to answer any questions you have. You can contact them with questions or appointment here: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

Do you have specific questions? Would you share a bit more about your unresolved symptoms?

Yes. More information would be helpful. In my own experience having a large polyp removed from my duodenum I had an excellent experience at the gastroenterology department at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.

I have SIBO- hydrogen type. It's chronic and I've had it on and off for 2 years but consistently for the last 9 months. Xifaxan worked the first time but not the last time. I'm following a SIBO diet and if I deviate from it I have serious chronic diarrhea.
My local GI agrees that it's time to refer me elsewhere. I am on the gulf coast of Fl and can go to Mayo in Jacksonville or Cleveland Clinic in Weston. She referred me to Cleveland but they have basically said there are no SIBO specialists there. Can you recommend someone at Mayo?

I do not have personal experience with SIBO but can help with information Mayo Clinic provides.

They have two doctors that focus on Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and they are both in Jacksonville:
- Doctors that treat SIBO at Mayo Clinic (overview, diagnosis & treatment too)

Your doctor can refer you or or you can self-refer using this link: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63l

Would you let me know what you find out, what your next steps are?

Thank you. I really appreciate your attention. I reviewed these doctors' resumes and reviews in the past and ruled them out because they had so many one star reviews & extensive criticism. I just looked at all of their reviews again and unfortunately nothing has changed so I'll keep looking.

I'll keep you posted about my next steps.

Today I met someone who
Had a very positive experience in Rochester in the GI dept. She did not have SIBO.
I’m willing to travel to Rochester if I can find someone with that specialty. My local GI will do a referral and send my records if you can provide us with contact info. Thank you so much!

When I use the Find a doctor link and put in SIBO no doctors in Rochester come up. Initially you sent me a link to Jacksonville that showed 2 SIBO doctors. Can you do the same with Mayo Rochester? I'd like to review their Bios.
