I quit marijuana use on March 1st. I had to quit as I am a kidney donor through Scripps Green Hospital. I did enjoy it but it created anxiety when I ran out or there were no discounts at the dispensary. 2 months without it and Im better off than with it. I have severe spinal stenosis, herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, degenerative joint disease in my right shoulder and carpal tunnel bilaterally. All this and Im still donating a kidney. I do miss marijuana but I dont miss the dependency. I use walking as my drug. Motion is medicine. When walking, I practice mindfulness and meditation while strengthening my agency through neuroplasticity exercises. I am not drug free as I do 300mg of pregabalin daily to help my sleep. Ill say it again, Motion is Medicine. Go outside, get some air and sunshine 🌞. Meet people. Explore new routes. Life is an amazing adventure.

@trooperdogg1960 great post ! Motion is medicine and combining it with a form of meditation is special…bravo for donating a kidney in spite of your own challenges ! PS I don’t mess with pot or its variants, though I know some people really benefit.

@talltxlady thanks. Can you drive after a dose? If not, how long do you have to wait before you can drive?

@pklouky everybody reacts differently and it depends on how much THC and or CBD is in your product.

@pklouky I have been experiencing more and more pain for the past year. The "experts" tell me that it's neuropathy. At this point the pain is an 8-9 constantly in lower back, buttocks, legs, and feet. Meds are not helping, neither is my pain pump. These past few days I have tried a small line of 90% THC extract. Its legal to purchase in this state. My observation: my pain is greatly reduced to about a three. It takes about one to two hours for it to kick in. The side effect is that I feel like I am in an alternate universe. One day everything looked like I was observing through a weird window. So, what do I want, less pain but weird world, or lots of pain but a more realistic world? What to do?

This isn't a normal reaction to thc. Before I quit thc March 1st, I was doing 90%+ thc oil. Ive smoked off and on since the 1970s and have rarely heard of a reaction like yours. Where can I get some of that? Im kidding. If it helps you, maybe see if you can find a weaker strain. The euphoric feeling shouldn't be as mind bending as you describe. Maybe try a smaller dose. I dont use it anymore due to being an impending organ donor. I still wont return to it after the donation for personal reasons. THC has its benefits, but then so do opioids and refrain from those. I suffer from pain in my lumbar, shoulder and both wrists. Lets face it, pain sucks. I would be very careful considering your reaction isn't typical. Good luck!

@heisenberg34 I apply CBD balm wherever I am in pain and have no side effects whatsoever. No weird world, no altered states. Just relief from pain. And it relieves the pain in a matter of minutes. I’ve been buying it for 2 years from CharlottesWeb.com who was recommended to me by an acupuncturist years ago. The quality is consistent. It comes in a 4 oz tin and costs $29. (I think it’s 4 oz.). I’m sure there are many on-line sites where you can purchase CBD balm but I trust Charlotte’s Web. . I hope it helps. Sheila

@sheceegold Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you have found something that works. I have tried 4% lidocaine cream, Mama Bear Oasis, Capsaicin ointment, and a host of other creams. None work at all. My neuropathic pain is so severe that I don't think there are any such creams that will help me.

@trooperdogg1960 I am going to be discussing THC use with my PM doc. Hopefully he will be experienced enough to set me on the right course.

@heisenberg34 it definitely has its benefits. However, being a certified Peer Support Specialist and Peer Support Leader in dependence and recovery, I will abstain to better set an example. It absolutely can be a dependency issue for many. It was encouraged but not prescribed by a few of my doctors in replacement of Tromadol and other opioids prescribed to me by a former PM doctor. Psychological dependence with THC is a real issue. When I stopped, March 1st, I noticed I had mental discomfort. Ive been through many drug cocktails prescribed for pain, but the 300mg of pregabalin will soon be replaced with spinal chord stimulation. The pregabalin has definitely helped emotional issues for me. Dependence on any drug is not what I want or need. Motion is medicine. Mindfulness and meditation can do wonders but pain sucks. Sometimes something else is needed.

@heisenberg34 But have you tried CharlotteWeb.com CBD balm? If nothing else works, have you considered that you might have pinched nerves caused by tight muscles that are pressing on nerves? MD’s rarely consider that and rely on meds to relieve pain.

Pinched nerves can be relieved by releasing the tight muscles that can be helped by a Somatic trainer or educator. Check out Somatics on the Web and Lawrence Gold.
