How can I end Nonstop Recurrent MRSA infections?
Hello All,
I was first diagnosed and hospitalized in 2014 where I had 3 INDs and spent 3 weeks in the hospital with MRSA on my inner thighs. I was on at home IV antibiotics and it went away(except for a few flare ups) until 2018. After that it became more frequent for 2 years, roughly 6-8 per year. Since 2020, I have been on nonstop antibiotics (linezoid or doxycycline) and it has now been attacking my nose(nares) mostly.
I followed the nose creams and 2 weeks antibiotics prescription, but it would come back a week later after finishing each round. Now I just finished a 3 month run of doxy and have it again 2 weeks later.
I'm becoming exhausted and I have a people to care for and am always worried they will get this. I clean all the time and keep myself clean. Multivitamins, healthy food, etc. Also worried soon antibiotics won't work and it comes on so aggressive.
All the ID, primary, and dermatologists I've seen just keep doing the same thing and I'm getting worse.
I've looked into the studys on pulsing blue light, peroxide solutions, new drugs but I can't seem to get anyone interested, or has even read what I have.
Can someone help? Are there trials out there for something new? A different combination of drugs or new therapys?
Appreciate your time.

Anyone aware of recent trials regarding chronic MRSA skin infections? I’ve had 15 infections with and without antibiotic treatment. I mostly treat myself with warm compresses up to 3x/day and applying mupiricin ointment. I fear one of these times I will be dealing with a blood infection.
Hi can I ask if you were ever able to eradicate your mrsa? I’m
in a tough place.
Hey how long have you been dealing with mrsa and did you ever resolve it?
@stellalexi2
So I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I don't know if my information can help you or not I can only tell you what I've been through. To keep it short it was a car wreck and many surgeries to my right leg That ended up in me having mrsa stuck in my hip joint and not being able to get the last surgery I need which is a prosthetic hip. The damage from the wreck to my hip is so bad I have to have a custom hip built and they will not do it until the infection is gone. I have had 4 surgeries debris and replacing antibiotic hips. Each surgery I receive a picc line and go through a 6 week IV antibiotic regiment. Currently on doxycycline but have done vancomyson also. I am currently working with infectious disease and a top surgeon out of Vanderbilt Tennessee. Each surgery I get sent home with 2 wound vacs. 1 is a wound drained reservoir the other is a provina 8 day wound vac. These wound vacs are made to remove Any type of drainage from the surgery area. Neither of them are made to last more than 8 days after surgery and then you are to just keep the area clean and dry. I wish you the best.
I recently caught a nasty staph infection I'm currently fighting off.
I got it at a fast food restaurant. In the area I've repeatedly caught sepsis from dine in fast food places because they're not cleaning often and theres homeless people who are probably harboring infection that they're not treating.
I'm homeless also but typically good at fighting off disease. Im coming to find the absolute best thing to have is diluted bleach. Use on your laundry, cleaning surfaces, and also for bathing. Use a water jug in the shower with a capful of bleach. Wash with a washcloth using dial or appropriate soap but be aware there may be a chemical reaction that can cause burns. Keep your shower clean with the appropriate disinfectant. Do not mix rubbing alcohol or sunscreen with bleach it can form gases and cause burns. Use clean cotton rags w/ wrap to cover band aid and bandages for added protection and prevent spread to clothing. Wash everything with bleach. Put used band aids in tubs of bleach or rubbing alcohol.
Keep everything clean in your home inside your fridge etc.
Keep a healthy diet as much as possible. Keep your body temperature high to boost the immune system. Garlic chopped and left in open air to oxidize for 10-15 minutes can be taken with water or added to cooking. Shitake mushrooms offer good immune support. There's various holistic remedies and treatment for diet. Ovoid overly sugary, oily, junk food it feeds the infection.
Another note is using tea tree or essential oil (with caution) can be beneficial by adding to bandages absorbent pads. Some oils like mint or oregano need to be diluted with carrier oil like vitamin E or almond oil.
Sunlight is also good at helping beat infection. Ensure there's light coming into your home or vehicle. Use UV between washes to sanitize clothing that has been worn. Use a reflective material to enhance sunlight efficiency. It takes about 70 minutes to kill staph on surfaces with strong sunlight.
Be aware of spreading infection in public places and ovoid dirty places not being cleaned that are not getting direct sunlight. Use hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol frequently and use it to sanitize common surfaces like phone, car keys, ear buds, car steering wheel, etc.
Consider getting rid of contaminated items that are a source of repeat infection. And again keep your home clean. Trash or anything that is harboring infection.
