HRT Safety
I wanted to share this Medscape article I received today about new study on HRT. I am considering HRT for my osteoporosis at age 67 and am so encouraged by this article: https://www.medscape.com/s/viewarticle/hormone-therapy-after-65-good-option-most-women-2024a10007b2

2 Reactions@blueberre - so true. I also discovered that you can't lead with OP. Foggy brain, sleep challenges, etc will get you in the door!

2 Reactions@debbie1956 my friend is a cancer nurse and she said if men had this problem (some do), research would have been done. Let's be grateful for what we have now, and it is working. HRT is a lifesaver.

1 Reaction@gravity3 and @debbie1956 Can you share the life changing/altering things that you have experienced? I am 13 years post menopause and my gynecologist was firmly against it as she has experienced 25% negative events in her patients. Thanks!

I knew at my age and years post menopause that it would benefit my bones to some degree. Bone health was not my primary reason for starting bhrt. I wanted my robust libido back after so many years. It worked beautifully. I have no more urine incontinence, no more senile purpura, enhanced energy and more positive outlook. I believe it is helping with muscle health and resilience.

I also wanted to add that at 77 I was 90 percent focused on quality of life rather than quantity. Something is going to end my life and I am focused on my sex life and any thing else that will make my life more pleasurable. The actuarial tables give me an average age of death at 84. Since I am on the brink of 78...in theory I have 6 years left.

Yup. Our bodies are very individual.
@loplady was your gynecologist indicating that HRT had caused the ocular stroke and blood clots in these patients and if so were they on a transdermal estrogen patch or oral estrogen? Up to date studies conclude that the patch has a very low risk for blood clots as it bypasses the liver.
