Hello, opioids and nsaids do not work for me. luckily i just found valium to work. i have tons of chronic conditions however tho. cbd cream can last a very long time depending on how bad ur pain is but also yes smoking does do the job greatly. if u have never smoked before just stick with joints, flower, vapes but if u need something stronger go with wax

In Texas marijuana isn't recreationally legal, yet lol. But,,, Texas does have medical marijuana (aka Texas' Compassionate Use Program or CUP). I'm a patient and grateful for this type of medication and relief 😉 it's amazing in the medicinal ways it helps👏 I love the salted dark chocolate bites, the concentrates and tinctures. They provide lots of pain relief.
I have friends/family in other states where mj is legal. I have been to the recreational mj shops in those states and it's wonderful. You tell the person behind the counter what you want/need help with (pain relief, insomnia, anxiety, appetite, etc) and they will recommend a product that provides such relief. So whether you're in a recreationally legal state, or a state like Texas, there are programs available for this type of relief (in Texas you do have to qualify). For me that was no problem with my host of issues from bladder cancer to severe sacral lumbar pain to 3 autoimmune diseases to arthritis and bilateral Plantar/Palmer fibromatosis. Sigh,,, but Praise God I can get help. Good luck and I do hope you will find relief.

When my pain came flooding back about four years ago, I tried medical marijuana. My doc would only prescribe CBD. It did not provide any relief. Fast-forward to 2025. We are in a different state that allows legal marijuana. I went to a dispensary and ordered a strong concentrate of THC. A small line added to chocolate takes one to two hours to kick in. Yes, it reduces my pain but leaves me feeling as if I am in an alternate universe. Not a pleasant feeling. I plan to ask my PM doc for a prescription to help with my crippling pain.

@talltxlady it just became legal in my state but insurance won't cover it. How much do you spend on it a month?

@pklouky Too darn much! But it really helps me. More than any opioid!

@rhodajane Good morning. I have been using THC for the past couple of years, initially for sleep issues from back/hip pain, now for flank/oblique muscle pain from the muscles being constantly locked/spasmed. I wanted to reply to give you an answer, but also for the others that have written to you asking questions about using THC.

My state has legal THC, with quite a few dispensaries in the area. Someone mentioned smoking marijuana, but that is not the only option. There are edibles, like gummies, and there are concentrated liquids that you add a small amount of to what you normally drink. I use a mix of water and lemonade, then add the amount of THC liquid necessary. This lasts me the longest, as a single glass of water/lemonade lasts me for three days, since I only need about 1/4 of the glass for the results I need.

As for the cost, there are surprisingly cheap options, especially the gummies. There is a box of 10 gummies I've tried that costs $12.00, and they come in several varieties, for sleep, for pain, etc. The liquid I use is the most expensive of what I buy, but it is the strongest of what I use as well. I know someone that won't use it after his first time trying it, saying it was stronger than he likes. But you can mix the amount you want, and also only drink the amount you want, it is up to you.

So, for the monthly cost, as someone asked about, I spend about $50 a month. This is because of the concentrated liquid being more expensive. If you stay with gummies or cheaper pre-made drinks (there are lemonade and iced tea versions in a can), you can spend less.

I hope this helps with everyone's decision!

@pklouky it's pretty expensive in Texas. A small bottle of RSO concentrate or tincture ranges from $135 to $155 for 1oz (30 ml) tiny, but you only need .25 for a dose. I've had it about 2 months and have more than 1/2 of it left. Tiny bottle, but only miniscule dose needed.

@talltxlady thanks. Can you drive after a dose? If not, how long do you have to wait before you can drive?

REPLY

I don't drive after taking the tincture. I take it in the evening or make sure I don't need to go anywhere.

I quit marijuana use on March 1st. I had to quit as I am a kidney donor through Scripps Green Hospital. I did enjoy it but it created anxiety when I ran out or there were no discounts at the dispensary. 2 months without it and Im better off than with it. I have severe spinal stenosis, herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, degenerative joint disease in my right shoulder and carpal tunnel bilaterally. All this and Im still donating a kidney. I do miss marijuana but I dont miss the dependency. I use walking as my drug. Motion is medicine. When walking, I practice mindfulness and meditation while strengthening my agency through neuroplasticity exercises. I am not drug free as I do 300mg of pregabalin daily to help my sleep. Ill say it again, Motion is Medicine. Go outside, get some air and sunshine 🌞. Meet people. Explore new routes. Life is an amazing adventure.
