Does everyone breathe out into the nebulizer? Dumb question?

Posted by grammyvictoria @grammyvictoria, 3 days ago

Newbie (probably be a newbie for a long time) When nebulizing I always want to take lip off the nebulizer when I breathe out, so i'm not breathing into the neb, just breathing solution in on inbreath. Is this a dumb question? (instructions only say "breathe regularly)
thanks

I do nebbing attached to my Aerobika device so you have to breathe out through it . Frequent sterilisation of your equipment is key. Good luck to you

@irismargaret
thanks.
Guess I need better equipment. This OmRon has no attachment options no pause …
On it off button at the back. . Awkward especially when trying to get a sputum sample.

I know that breathing in through your nose doesn’t help! I used to breathe in and out through my mouth until I felt like I had pseudomonas in the upper part of my throat (behind the soft palate). I started exhaling through my nose part of the time to try to attack it with saline. I don’t do the nasal rinses. One day I was distracted and realized I was breathing in and out through my nose!
I don’t think that works.
The saline does seem to dry out my nostrils too much and cause occasional blood tinged mucus.
Do what works for you.

@mjb24 I breathe in and out of nebulizing equipment through the mouth only. Is this correct? Or do I only breathe in bringing in sodium and out through nose . Please advise

@smc17 The directions for the Aeroclipse, which is what I use, say to exhale normally through the device. Do you have instructions for your nebulizer or can you look them up online?
