Has anyone experienced itchy skin (pruritus) with CKD?

Has anyone here experienced Pruritus in Stage 2 ckd. Waiting on my Nephrologist appointment but asked my Urologist is this what's going on with me her response was no because I'm not on dialysis or in kidney failure I previously went thru this and saw several other Dr's and they couldn't find anything causing it it's driving me crazy especially at night. Could this really be kidney related

I’m in 3rd stage kidney failure and I’ve had that crazy itchiness a couple times and it’s horrible to go through. I’m not on dialysis. Mine was really bad a year or so ago and I itched so bad that I bled. It comes and goes in spurts and I haven’t told my doctor about it but I itch on my back a lot and I see blood on my clothes. I didn’t know it’s a diabetic thing. I can empathize with the patients that have it.

You really should discuss it with your doctor especially the severity to the point of bleeding. They may be able suggest or prescribe a treatment. Best wishes to you

Thank you. I will be discussing this with my doctor very soon. I think my issues are a combination of a couple of things. This has been really a horrible experience.

@jeannie85 The one thing that did help me the most is Xyzal ! I was able to stop itching until this last episode. Another thing that helped is Lyrica. Hope you feel better soon

I also wanted to say that the itchiness happens only on the left side of my body. It’s all down my left arm and on my back too. I just don’t understand why it’s happening this way… Renee

I have been using a combination of things that help quite a bit! The Black Hills Honey Farm has a balm with all natural ingredients, including propolis, arnica, ginger and capsaicin. It's a little expensive, but a tiny bit goes a very long way! I make my own CBD cream with coconut oil, pure, tested CBD and a small amount of essential oils. Remember everyone is different, but I find that this combination has been a big help.

@veryoldhippi just started dialysis this week.
Have periodic ichyness back and ankle. Use Cerave Itch relief.
I avoid scratching for fear of breaking skin and infection.

@sequoia8 I was having alot of itching especially at night. There is a new medication called Korsuva. I am getting it intravenously at the end of doing dialysis. I've been on it for around 2 months and my itching has completely stopped.
