Gastritis and h. pylori

Posted by pianist3 @pianist3, Jul 19, 2023

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone out there has tips to heal severe gastritis? I’ve been told i have h pylori, but I just did a second stool test yesterday. I took L-glutamine powder with water and GI revive this morning. I’m also tolerating a vegan shake with melon this morning. Any help, I’d be soo grateful! God bless!! Stay strong! Mia 🌻😍

Totally agree. 14 days to a healthy gut is definitely worth the inconvenience. Be well!

Has anybody tried Mastic gum (pitch pieces from the mastic tree) to heal h.pylori? I don't have proof from Doc, but I think it relieves my gastro paresis. I might have h.pylori, IDK. But I am VERY SURE that antibiotics will kill the good bacteria in my digestive system, so I avoid them.

@wimzie You have to get them from a doctor, who will also give you dosing instructions. You can learn more about them on the internet. Try drugs.com.

I recently had an endoscopy to biopsy a pancreatic cyst and while doing the endoscopy they took a sample of the stomach lining. The cyst was benign, but they found H Pylori bacteria in the stomach lining sample and now want to start me on the 14-day antibiotics. I have no symptoms and only for the endoscopy I would've never know I had it. 80 - 90% of people that have it have no symptoms so don't get treated. I really don't want to start a course of antibiotics and also, I take it if I have it then my husband does too and if that is the case will he have to be treated?

@sarahgreen Take the antibiotic and get rid of it before it causes a problem, like a stomach ulcer. I don't know about your husband.

If you have H pylori, you will probably be given an antibiotic to get rid of it - please take it.
I just had a bout with severe gastritis. My GI doctor told me to use the following regimen.
Esomeprazole ER ( prescription)
Gaviscon liquid up to 4 times a day - after meals and at bedtime (over the counter). This brand works a lot better than Maalox or Mylanta because it actually forms a coating that protects your esophagus and stomach from acid
Pepcid at bedtime (over the counter).
This has really helped me after a few days. But you need to know if you have H pylori, and if you do, get the antibiotic treatment. And ask your doctor before starting the regimen I just mentioned.

I would highly recommend seeing a Functional Medicine or Naturopathic physician. 14 days of up to three different types of antibiotics (look up the typical protocol) will likely destroy your microbiome. There are natural remedies that are effective and much safer/healthier for treating H.Pylori. Best of luck!

I have gastroparisis but it goes further than that. Just this past year I have been dropping wright rapidly. I am eating but the food passes through me within 20 minutes. I have had every test and lab work done over the past 15 years and everything is negative. I am on cholesteramine powder daily . It helps a little but I'm still dropping weight. I lost 25 lbs over 5 months without trying. I had bariatric surgery 8 years ago and my gallbladder removed. I stay away from fried foods, some dairy. I don't drink or smoke. My biggest concern is dropping the weight. I am down to 99 lbs and I should be at 125.
I've been drinking Boost and ensure to get protein. My gastro Dr has been puzzled too. I've been to a hematologist too and everything is good.
I need to stop loosing weight and have to gain. I welcome input. TY
