Gastritis and h. pylori

Posted by pianist3 @pianist3, Jul 19, 2023

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone out there has tips to heal severe gastritis? I’ve been told i have h pylori, but I just did a second stool test yesterday. I took L-glutamine powder with water and GI revive this morning. I’m also tolerating a vegan shake with melon this morning. Any help, I’d be soo grateful! God bless!! Stay strong! Mia 🌻😍

I have chronic gastritis that doesn’t go away. I had h pylori that was cured with antibiotics. I was on a PPI for almost 5 years. I’m off of it now but don’t know if it cured gastritis. I get scoped in October to see if my BE is gone. I stay away from spicy, acidic foods and soda and booze and no smoking too. Good Luck figuring out gastritis! Now that you have h pylori you now have an increased risk for stomach cancer.

For gastritis, I took 80 mg of protonix. 40 in the am and 40 before dinner. Antibiotics normally are used to rid of H. Pylori

Does anyone know if a FODMAP diet helps gastritis as well as IBS?

I recently had an endoscopy to biopsy a pancreatic cyst and while doing the endoscopy they took a sample of the stomach lining. The cyst was benign, but they found H Pylori bacteria in the stomach lining sample and now want to start me on the 14-day antibiotics. I have no symptoms and only for the endoscopy I would've never know I had it. 80 - 90% of people that have it have no symptoms so don't get treated. I really don't want to start a course of antibiotics and also, I take it if I have it then my husband does too and if that is the case will he have to be treated?

Get the antibiotics and get rid of the bacteria. Get the husband checked out by a doctor. You now have an increased chance of getting stomach cancer. Get cured!

@sarahgreen you are very fortunate to have had the H Pylori discovered before you had any symptoms. It would be best to nip this in the bud by taking the required antibiotics. 14 days is nothing compared to the years of potential health problems in the future that H Pylori can trigger.
