Does anyone here have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis?

Posted by alicebean @alicebean, 1 day ago

I was diagnosed about 4 months ago, after almost two years of going to doctors for multiple symptoms. A simple deeper drive into my thyroid numbers revealed this diagnosis. It took so long to find out and that months of PT, scans, x-rays, MRIs, neurological studies could have been avoided. But I am here now and wondering if anyone has experience managing symptoms and flares?

--- Hello AliceBean: Yes, I have Hashimoto.I manage symptoms with NP Thyroid... which nowadays I have to buy from Amazon...and I manage with less sugar in my diet, only rarely a cup of coffee, filtered water, meditation, exercise (which I have to get back to). All the best.

Hi,
Prior to getting diagnosed I had several symptoms from muscle aches, brain fog, and almost had a hysterectomy. Found it really pays to listen to your gut feeling; doctors try to make the correct diagnosis but sometimes it is trial and error. After diagnosed with hashimoto disease, starting on medicine, some of my health issues was resolved.

@lmguen I had muscles aches and brain fog like you and other crazy stuff. I was tested for so many diseases like MS, Lime Disease, neurological symptoms, etc. I haven't been on the medicine long enough to feel much differently, but I am optimistic.

When I was diagnosed it was thought that my severe disabling fatigue might improve with Synthroid. It didn't. I can honestly tell you that I have had no symptoms or flares in years and years since being diagnosed with Hashimoto's. It has been a non-factor for me in dealing with multiple autoimmune illnesses. Sorry you were given all of those tests!

@jw9 Thank you for your input. I am glad you are not feeling the effects from this disease but sorry that you are dealing with others.

@lmguen Sorry you were suffering, but I’m wondering, did your doctor put you on Thyroid Medication for Hashimoto’s or do you also have a Thyroid condition? I have both Hashimoto’s and Hypothyroidism and I take Synthroid daily to control my Hypothyroidism. The only management for Hashimoto’s is through diet I was told. I have eliminated eating gluten, dairy, soy, seed oils and nightshade foods. They are inflammatory foods and cause body inflammation/bloat.

@lkirnbauer Thanks for the information. I do have both but didn't know hashimoto disease was managed by diet.
