Arthritis in the fingers

Posted by dennismm @dennismm, Apr 23 8:56am

I have arthritis in the fingers of my right hand. Some fingers are even “slightly bent.”
How do I type on my iPhone when my fingers keep hitting incorrect keys? It takes me 10 minutes just to type a simple text! I can’t always use voice or an external key, so what’s next?

You never have a quiet place and time to dictate? Its important to have this for anyone whether trying to use a phone or not. Sorry

I’m in the middle of a million dollar project for Verizon and all my work is during the day while I am constantly on the move, the answer is no, no quiet time!

I can sympathize with you! I waited too long to go see a hand therapists. I learned so many helpful techniques after just a couple visits. I wish my Drs had suggested OT and hand therapy earlier.

The most helpful thing I learned was to wear Oval Eight rings. These plastic rings provide just enough torque to keep my fingers aligned. More recently on went on Etsy, lovethebugs, and had two silver splints made to my exact size - at a very fair price. I wear them 24/7 now. Which I think is also preventing further unwanted curvature. A hand therapist can also help you determine what rings your need.

Best of luck. I believe you will find something that works.
