Day 66 of a migraine. What has worked for you?

Posted by danimartinez @danimartinez, Apr 18 8:36pm

Day 66 of my first migraine. I’ve been to multiple neurologists and headache clinics and had several ER visits. I’ve tried dozens of otc and prescription meds- nothing has touched it. My pan is a constant 7-8/10 24/7.

Currently on propranolol, gabapentin, memantine, ajovy, migranol otc supplement, magnesium, and daily electrolytes. No rescue meds have touched it.

MRI, CT, lumbar puncture, and many blood tests are all clean.

I’m beaten and debilitated. I can no longer work or function. Please help me! What has worked for you all?

My neurologist put me on a prednisone taper.
This helped my daily migraines.

Sorry nothing is helping your migraine.
Did doctors mention cluster headaches? They come on suddenly, last for days-weeks. Very painful. Oxygen or inderal may help. Sumatriptan works for my migraines. Hope you get some relief.

I saw neurologist last week re: thunderclap h/a March 14 followed by daily headaches (with vision issues) for a month. I only take otc stuff for h/a rated a 5 or greater on pain scale to avoid rebound h/a. Found out the "regular" brain MRI wasn't sufficient, I need to have a brain MRI angiogram. A MRI machine with special software, it can see small to mod size aneurysm better than regular MRI. I had no idea. So danimartinez- I think you should ask for that since migraines are new to you. He also had me start Vit B2(riboflavin), I have felt h/a's start but then they fade. I think its helping. He also ordered Ubrelvy but its expensive, hasn't been filled yet. Good luck

@purple26 Ubrelvy is so expensive. I order it from Canada but it still costs a little under $300 for only ten! If I go through my insurance it’s almost $800 ! It’s so unfair.

@purple26 I agree! I don’t know what I’m doing but my headaches are now lessening. I don’t have to take out of my savings to pay for the medication. Have you tried asking your doctor for samples?

Haven't asked, I didn't realize how expensive when I saw him. But I really think the Vit B2 (riboflavin) is helping. I feel a bad headache starting, and then it fades after an hour. Thats totally new for me.
