I found this explanation: What is CIDP?
In CIDP, the immune system mistakenly targets and attacks the protective tissue, called myelin, that covers the nerves in the arms and legs. Over time, as the myelin wears away, nerves lose their ability to send signals, leading to muscle weakness or impaired motor function.
The letters CIDP stand for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy. Let’s break down what each word means.
Chronic means the condition progresses over time and doesn’t go away without treatment.
Inflammatory refers to the cause of your symptoms. With CIDP, the immune system’s inflammatory cells mistakenly recognize nerve tissue as foreign, sending cells to attack it.
Demyelinating describes the nerve damage. Think of your nerves as copper wires. “The damage is mostly happening to the insulation of the wire — and not as much to the wire inside,” says Divyanshu Dubey, M.B.B.S., a neurologist and specialist in CIDP treatment at Mayo Clinic. This protective covering is called myelin. So, as the immune system attacks this tissue, it demyelinates the nerves.
Polyradiculoneuropathy describes where in the body the damage is happening. “Poly” is Greek for “many”; “radiculo” means “root”; “neuro” is Greek for “nerve”; and “pathy” is Greek for “disease.” Specifically, the term refers to nerve disease in the arms and legs.
Wow! I went off of Ozempic and then Mounjaro for months due to nausea and abdominal cramping. I just started getting 1.25 shots at my naturopathic physician's office as she thought it would be good to start off very slowly. This has worked and I barely have any symptoms BUT I did start having neuropathy downwards from my waist. I have had neuropathy in my calf and foot for a couple of years now. It was always more of a restless leg and numbness. This is numb but sort of painful. I thought it was from the holiday treats! I am going to talk with my doctor tomorrow when I go for my 3rd shot. Thank you everyone for your insight!
Yes! Half my body has gone numb! I was hospitalized no answers. Forgot to take it on scheduled day numbness started receding. It didn’t click that’s what it was. I took the shot and the numbness was worse than ever stop taking it and I’m just going away but not gone. My right hand is incredibly bad and I’m an artist so this is really bad.
@gptach Has the numbness subsided yet? I hope so. I injected the pen in my right thigh now I have SEVERE sciatic pain. Hoping it wears off soon. Skipping my next dosage to see how things pan out.
My hands went cold & numb. Stopped taking it on 1st day of June. No relief on 13th. Have doctor appointment on 27th, if no improvement by then and doctor has answers to relief, going to head to attorney and see what attorney says.
Hihas anyone had nerve pain from Mounjaro? i’m currently on 7.5 dose and been getting pains and sensations that begin in my foot.Did anyone stop the medication and did the nerve pain go away?

Have you discussed the new symptoms with your doctor?
Yes! I had used Mounjaro for 10 months for weight loss without issues. (no diabetes history) Then, my life changed literally overnight. It was a living nightmare. My body started feeling “stings,” and less than 2 days later, my body felt like it was completely on fire and being stung by bees. I was sent via ambulance over 100 miles to Washington University hospital in STL. Their neurology team were stumped and tested me for 5 days. They told me to stop taking Mounjaro. I was reluctantly diagnosed with nutrient-deficient small fiber peripheral neuropathy. I am now taking large amounts of gabapentin to move on with my life - most likely for the rest of my life. I would love for doctors at Mayo to review my file and contact me. However, the reason I’ve posted is to possibly help anyone realize if Mounjaro did the same thing to them. I did nothing, “wrong” by taking Mounjaro. I just wish my doctor would’ve told me to take a daily multi vitamin while taking it.
