Has anyone had the experience of new or increased neuropathy associated with Mounjaro use?

I’m so happy to find this group. I have been on Mounjara for about a yr. I have had progressive PN .im a diabetic but have never had the issues I have now. I can wake up with any part of my body in severe pain it feels more surface on my skin by feels like raw meat. It is extremely painful and just as it comes by the next day it is completely gone. No redness or swelling ever appears. Just pain and can’t touch the area. I’ve got back issues too but have never been in so much pain on a daily basis .ive had steroid injections. On gabapentin( which I HATE) scheduled for labs . A new drug?? And a consult with a neurologist. The sad part is that Mounjara has been fantastic with controlling my DM and weight loss. I’m off all other DM drugs ( metformin and insulin) I love what this drug has done to help me but I am so frustrated with where it has brought me to regarding symptoms and pain. I just don’t know what to do.

Yes, i started taking a semagutide from WW and noticed tingling and numbness in my hands and arms. It stopped when WW lost ability to ship and I didn’t have shots for 3 weeks. Just started semaglutide from Hims and Hers. Tingling and numbness returned with a vengeance! If I can’t manage it I may have to stop.

Yes my whole body even my lips. Started with numbness in the tip of my toes and then the tip of my fingers then all of my skin on my legs and arms feel weird and if I tap my lips tingle up my forehead my doctor said it’s not a side effect from Mounjaro , but I’m starting to wonder I’ve been on it for a year now and my feet are almost totally numb and so are my hands and I feel weak in my arms and legs. I’m about ready to just quit it but I take it for my diabetes. Which I was also just diagnosed with last year my sugars have never been crazy high to damage my nerves. It’s really weird. Nobody listens to me The neurologist looked at me like I was crazy when I said my lips were numb.

Welcome @jldanenhower, Sorry to hear your doctors don't seem to be listening to you. I'm not sure about a neuropathy connection with Mounjaro but there definitely is a connection between diabetes and neuropathy. I did a search of Connect using "diabetic neuropathy what helps" and thought you might find it helpful to scan through the different discussions and comments from other members - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/discussions/

I believe I am having a neuropathic reaction. Ever since I started Mounjaro in August, I have had burning pain over most of my skin. A couple of weeks ago I missed a dose, and the pain faded away. The next week I resumed my normal injection and two days later, Bingo. Pain is back. I hadn’t made the connection until now. (I had thought it was from terbinafine…). Not sure what to do now. I was on trulicity for years and had no such issues. My PCP is kinda blowing me off, blaming diabetic neuropathy. But not with symmetrical, bilateral, widespread pain that all started at once! Frustrating.

I have been on mounjaro 12.5 mg for nearly 2 years. My A1C dropped from 8.1 to 6.1 and I lost over 40 pounds. Unfortunately last December I was diagnosed with a very large benign meningioma and required a craniotomy in February. I had been experiencing neuropathy and extreme weakness prior to the surgery. It was assumed that this would end when the tumor was removed. I was off mounjaro for almost a month during the surgery and actually recovered very quickly. I resumed the mounjaro and as weeks became months I became much more debilitated. I transitioned from no cane to requiring a cane and now a walker for the past month. My surgeon ran extensive testing to explain the expanding neuropathy. Three weeks ago I experienced my first ever seizure (focal) . Thanks to my neurologist who supported my decision to stop taking mounjaro. Today marks one week since my last dose and I have drastically improved. Sorry for the essay but grateful for the forum

Yes! I had severe pain on my skin all over my body— symmetrical. Once I figured out what was causing it I got myself switched to Ozempic. After 3 weeks the same thing started happening, though not nearly as severe.

I was on Trulicity for years and never had any issues at all. (All 3 meds are GLP-1’s. )

Update: I switched to Ozempic. After 3 doses I started having the same pain again, only not as severe.
