Hi! 32 year old woman and 18 months postpartum with 2nd baby. been having right sided pain under rib. PT, X-rays and MRI showed nothing over the past year. Had CT Of abdomen and pelvis with barium and recieved this result yesterday

5.6 x 4.3 by approximately 6.3 cm mass inferior right hepatic lobe likely segment V. MRI with Eovist contrast recommended for further elucidation

Obviously I am having an aching pain In that area that comes and goes for the last year or so I am now very concerned as to what it can be. I don’t have an appt with my doctor until the end of the week and the doctor that sent me was pain management so I’m assuming he will refer me to gastro for further review. I’m thinking even if it’s a cyst, I’d need some type of surgery since it’s so big and causing pain. I’m just nervous. Any thoughts to ease my mind?

I just had a 5.6 cm tumor in the liver. It had been there 3 years. I was recommended to have the Y90 treatment. That is implanting radioactive isotopes directly into the tumor and to kill the blood supply. The procedure was painless but the after effects had me down for almost a full 8 weeks. I am almost 6 months past treatment and so far, so good. Scans every 3 months and so far no Mets either. Your team will recommend what treatment. Life is good, do all you can to keep living it.

You might call your doctor and ask them to order the recommended Evovist contrast MRi because sometimes waiting is punishment. I'm going to bet on a hemangioma. Pregnancies increase estrogen which advances the growth of these blood tangles. Sometimes they have to be surgically extracted, but i'm hoping they can block the blood supply with an injection. A fluid cyst they might be able to drain. I'm betting for something benign.
