Terrible headache on right side of head.

Sometimes it feels like it is earache, toothache, hurts in different places on right side of head. Not migraines. Any other suggestions what might be causing this?

Sounds exactly like occipital neuralgia. I’ve had it for many years. There are numerous approaches to managing it. See a neurologist or pain specialist.

I’m suffer from chronic migraines but, I also experienced the same problem only on my left side.
My problem was misdiagnosed as TMJ for nearly a year….my dentist, yes dentist found it to be stage IV base of tongue cancer which included my throat. The tumor in my throat was causing pressure on a nerve which caused the painful ear.
Not saying this is your problem but don’t waste time getting medical attention!

Sorry to hear what your going through as I have suffered from the same issues for the past 10 years and tried so many different drugs, scans until recently when I went to the doctors as I couldn’t cope anymore and this doctor who I’ve not seen before suggested I drop all the drugs and do neck exercises 3-4 times a day and wow! I’ve not had a migraine for the past 6 weeks, try it as it’s working for me hope it works for you

@podge The same happened to me. I have had headacks for years, about 16yrs ago they realized
I suffered from ON. One side of my neck, head, and eye, back of my head would be so painful.
In Jan 2026 I decided to takecharge of my problem, I began (as you did with certain exercises) I
found on U-Tube, they helped but until I realized my neck was the root of my problem I must
strengthen these muscles: #1 I replaced my down pillows with a Cervcial Log Pillow (game changer) no more a.m. headacks. # 2 I used elastic (yellow & red) bands: watch Occipital Neuraliga SNG tECHNIQUE By: ANNIE U tube she is great, slow claming. I do a few head movements one side to other (no stretches). Chin Tucks, and I do self massage (I ordered Magnesium Lotion- order amazon $11.00) its a little thick use a little water in palm of your hand. Watch Dr. Mantell He explains it so well. Be paitent with yourself, I also have a clincial massage once a month( they work on my muslces, shoulders, head neck). This is an extra item
I simply love before I begin I have myself a towel warmer: heat these up, place them on my neck before I begin, the muscles react much better. Good luck to all you fellow suffers. We hear your cry and feel your pain. Mine is so much better no flair ups since Dec 2025... last headack lasted three weeks. Gone
